As requested a few pics of the 58 Corvette. Will need to total resto and has a 350 which will need to be swapped over for a 283. Not sure what the 350 is from.

It looks to be the stock emblem, but without the chrome bezel installed and a black 62 backing plate, in place of the brushed stainless 58-61 part.

Are your plans to make it back original, or a driver which is not 100% pure but fun to drive? (NOT implying a 100% original is not fun to drive also). There is no right or wrong, it's whichever way you feel like doing it. Either way there are guys here who have done the same, so don't be afraid to ask questions when you hit a snag!

Have fun with the restoration. Do you have the trunk spears? Looks like **** carpet. Probably a 70's add on. Keep the pics coming as you progress

If your plan is to end up with a mostly original car, this is probably not the right candidate. Being a transitional year, '58 parts can be quirky, just to figure out what the correct part is. Expensive too (trunk irons for example).

But if your end goal is a "budget driver", then that may be realistic.

Anyway, I sure admire your courage!

BTW: what the heck happened to that deck panel? Never seen one so distorted.

Just noticed the cool fringe on the seat.

I can't believe someone filled in the original emblem half globe thingie to do this to the front.

Same question I had, you can get a lot more car for a lot less money for a driver, particularly with a 58. Restoration $$$ can go through the roof the closer you get to "original". Good luck with whatever path you take.

The OP has stated doing a total resto so it may work out better to restore this one than to pay for a much more expensive one and totally restore that, could be a case of 'what you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts'.

Nut and bolt restorations aren't cheap regardless.
