im not selling the car yet but next summer i will have to as im transfering and need an all weather day driver .. Im interested in the forums feed back as for how much i should sell my baby for i was thinking between $10,000 and $11,000

its a teal blue 1987 base model with 105,000 miles on the clock power windows, locks, mirrors, and drivers seat.

paint is fresh had it done this summer original color, car has triple chrome 05-07 corvette wheels with bf goodwrench g-force sport tiresthat have about 80% tread left (i still have the original sawblades with good rubber that will go with the car).

rebuilt the top end of the motor 3,000 miles ago and replaced MAF sensor, thermostat, cooling fan, heater core, spark plugs, and O2 sensors it runs beautiful has one small leak coming form the oil temp sensor, exhaust is stock manifolds true dual pipes to flowmaster mufflers no cats (loud and throuty sound) replaced all 4 hub assemblies 1,000 miles ago. all thats needed is new shocks

brand new interior except for the leather seats that need new leather and foam but frames and tracks are good the old amp on stereo system has been replaced with a modern top of the line kenwood system 3 way 4' in the doors and 3 way 6x9's in the rear have an amp kit wired but realized subs were not needed.

to sum it up the car about 75% new and all it needs to finish it off is new seats, shocks, and to fix the leak around the oil temp sensor (probably just an O ring) other than that this now antique beauty is a perfect cruiser

Looks like a decent car, but in my opinion, any C6 wheel on any c4 looks like crap. Considering the mileage and the color, my appraisal would be between 6-7k.

C4's are very cheap right now. Especially the color of your car and the miles...........just my .02............................thanks

If you are not needing to sell it right away then go ahead and ask 10k for it now and keep shopping it around. If somebody offers you that kind of money take it. Then when it gets closer to time you have to sell it you can lower the price if/when you need to.

Don't try to kid yourself that it is 75% like new, it needs upholstery work, engine is leaking, has a repaint (which many times lowers value), and needs suspension work. The other items you mentioned don't really add value since every car has a stereo and wheels, sorry. Just sayin'.

Try selling either of the extra set of wheels seperately, maybe someone may pay a premium for it that way.

well i guess all i can hope for is for the market to turn up before next summer i really need at least 10k because ive got about 14k in the car now.. and il probably take care of the oil leak before then i just need to find the time

My wife too, has at least $12K in just about the exact same Corvette as yours, but in this market, she knows, there is no way anybody is going to pay $10K for an early C4, when you can easily apply that money to a late C4. TNZ1056 has it right on, about the price, as we'd be lucky to get $6K to $7K for it and that's finding someone who really, really wants an early C4, versus a late C4.

PS: We're keeping the 87'! With the new injectors, it drives great and once we get it repainted, then it's good to go, as the whole interior, including seats is brand-spanking new. We'll never get the money we put into it, but we're committed to keeping the car, because how many med. metallic blue C4's do you see running around anymore?

Just had my '90 Vert, red on red 6 speed with 44k miles, all original with new tires on ebay for $12K asking price. Sorry to tell you that it got very few inquiries and no offers. I don't think this market is going to turn around any time soon. I'll just bite the bullet and leave it in the garage. I've owned it for 22 years so a few more years won't matter and I'm not going to give it away. Good luck with your sale.

I got $8250 and it had immaculate paint, wheels and convertible top. It also had 40k miles less on it and significantly more replaced.

TBH - I would place hte OPs car in the $5500-$6500 price range if it were in my area; meaning that would be what it sold for, if the leakage were resolved. C4 values are just in the toilet along with many other cars.

Why do you need an "all weather" car. I used to drive an 86 coupe all year round in Michigan many years ago. You just have to go easy on the go pedal when you take off. GM winter tests all their cars to make sure they can handle winter weather.
You will never get anywhere what you put into it so get realistic if you really have to sell.

It's not like water hurts cars at all, if you keep it waxed/washed.

The issue with putting money in these C4's is you'll never see it unless parted out. I'd say it's a solid 6500-7000 to the right buyer.

thank you all for the input the verdict is pretty clear so i think i need to get a little more realistic with the price but il have a solid bottom price that i wont sell for less guess this might turn into my little brothers first car haha guess the kid will be popular in high school drivin this thing

but do you think i could get my money out of it if i finished it off with some affordable shocks and used seats?

I think shocks would be a good investment. A set of KYB's are relatively inexpensive. Now seats are a bit tricky. Foam and leather(even vinyl) costs a lot, and I honestly don't think you'd recoup all that cost.

I don't know if you should take my "case" as typical of a buyer but I paid high ($9,700) for a 1987 flame red convertible with 53,000 original miles on the odometer. And I have spent $3,000 on various fixes.......tires, all fluid changes, upholstery repair, brakes, exhaust system (including cat), and full alignment.

My reasoning: I am 72 years old and probably am coming up on my date-of-expiration. I could have spent more but I wanted a 1987 convertible in flame red. I doubt if it will ever be sold; my surviving wife will give it to our nephew and it is "our toy" and we like it.

If I were you, I'd start at $11,500. Yours is nice looking. Advertise where "old boys" read the ads. There are many of us here (Tucson and 'burbs) that like the old and have some $ to spend on the toys we miss from our younger days.

There are "fools" like me around.....do not sell that beauty cheap.
