C6 Crackling Door Speaker
The RHS door speaker in my 3LT '08 Bose equipped C6 is beginning to crackle. It appears to be the powered 10" one. The crackling is especially noticeable on low quality recordings, and is getting worse.
I have already replaced all the 3.5" with Boston Accoustics.
In the future, I do want to replace the whole system with a Kenwood head unit and higher end speakers. However, I am wondering short term if I should bother to replace the 'crackler'. (It does seem like throwing good money after bad.)
My question - is there a non Bose direct replacement for the 10" Bose powered door speaker? If not, where can I buy the Bose replacement speaker, and approximately how much would it be?
The 3 year portion of my GM warranty has expired .
Thanks,
M...

Crackling speakers
My 05 with the nav system has a crackling sound even when the stereo is turned off. It happens when the car is moving and any bump or turn and I hear the crackling. I can't narrow it down to one specific speaker either. I don't know if this has anything to do with the poor quality audio I an experiencing. By that I mean the volume isn't able to get very loud at times and the bass is terrible. Has anyone been able to change the 10" door speakers?

I have a '06 w/3LT package. I have a similar problem with crackling and popping sound coming only from my front right speaker whether the radio is on or off and like jbauer3 the volume doesn't regulate the level of popping sound. Also from time to time I loose the bass from that speaker, then it kicks in only to go out again.
Speakers are passive devices, meaning they only convert electrical inputs to sound. Now unless the Bose speakers in the 3 LT's have separately powered built-in Amps, the cause of the popping is likely coming either from a spurious output from the power amp (the small door located under the passenger's feet) or the receiver.
Does anyone know if these speakers have separate amps?

As far as I know, the 10" door speakers have built in amps. I will see if my shop manuals have any details and get back to you.
Check in the audio section. Let me know if you get any more info.
Thanks,

Here is the door speaker schematic for my '08 3LT no Nav.
There appears to be 12 volts going to the speakers along with speaker level lines. This implies the speaker has a built in amp.
