Snap oversteer questions
So I was reading this thread and got a little confused. A few posts in people discuss snap oversteer.

My confusion is related to my experience/knowledge of the Toyota MR2. I have an 86 MR2 which was a 2 seater mid engine car. Back in the day there were lots of discussions of the rear sway bar and between 85 and 86 the rear sway bars were taken off the MR2s to prevent the snap oversteer in US production models. The problem was related only to the mid engine cars and people began to discuss the differences between mid engine and front engine cornering--slow in/fast out vs fast in/slow out. When you didn't take the first route with a mid engine car you got snap oversteer (sway bars added to this issue).
Now since I am not a racer AND new to the C3 AND just spent 1000 bucks on suspension parts INCLUDING a stage II sway bar kit I was hoping you all might be able to help with some questions. Does the C3 corner more like a front engine car or more like I describe the mid engine? Does the C3 have issues with the sway bar as was described in the above thread? I really don't think I will be racing but it seemed pretty interesting to me given that I own both of these cars. Thanks!!

I belive the right swaybars (especially the rear one) has to be tested out for your specific setup and driving.
I myself has got the VBP Dualmount fibersprings bpth front and rear and using the 1-1/8" swaybar in the front and no swaybar at all in the rear.
The car handles OK when pushing a bit in the corners and are fearly easy to controll with the throttle between under and oversteer.
I do have som play in my rear trailingarms and will start testing different swaybars the next season when the trailingarms are in good shape again.

Suspensions must be considered as total packages to include the tire/wheel combo and actual weight distrubution not only front/rear but side to side as well. What kit did you purchase, with what options for spring weight, shock choice, sway bar diameter, bushing/mount material choice? What tire and wheel combo will you use? Will your suspension include offset trailing arms or tubular adjustable a-arms? What caster/camber and toe settings will you use front and rear?
Most generally your Corvette will behave like the rear wheel drive, front heavy factory understeering unless seriously provoked grand tourer it was built to be... unless you start playing with spring rates, modified roll rates and different contact patches using altered alignment specifications. Modified incautiously, and driven with abandon these cars can become a true handfull! So just what exactly did you just purchase, and are there plans for more mods?

my personal experience with snap oversteer is not related to sway bar but to the "toe-steer" issue of the c2-c3 rear suspension. use the search tool if you want to know what it is. I'm adding more and more rear toe-in until i really feel the car predictable and not tail happy. I don't care about tires' wear since the car is driven just sometimes and for few miles
p.s. about sway bar , i use on my 427BB : front 1 1/8 , rear stock BB sway bar
