11.9 1/4 sounds right - I have noticed early Z06 models recorded better times - must be all that leather and suede:p
the video was probably spliced together - you really think they staged 11 cars to race only once...Most likly multiple races many camera angles - Final edit is a mix of multiple races...simple as that

Like niteriderc5 said, I'm sure they just rerun stuff to get new camera angles and different shots. All professional car shows/videos do that. If your saying the times are rigged, I seriously doubt it.

Then there was the Corvette's perennial Achilles' heel -- those damn seats! Lago noted that with this 'Vette, the ultra-gumballs help highlight just how inferior the seats are. Justin Bell gave me 30 laps around Laguna Seca as a passenger, and there were two of them where my (thankfully) helmeted head repeatedly banged against the window. If you have trouble reading between the lines, those two laps were in the Z06. Justin, who won Le Mans at the wheel of a Corvette, commented that he just couldn't believe a car with such tremendous levels of performance would let the occupants get tossed around in such a ridiculous manner.
At one point Bell (almost) missed a 2-3 upshift because he couldn't reach! Justin, who stands about 6 feet tall, had been hurled against the door and had to fight more than his own body weight (the Z06 pulls wacky g's) to sit up straight and push the industrial-strength shifter up and away. To reiterate, the Corvette Z06 had the worst seats of the bunch, by a flying mile. While fast around the figure eight, poor Kim had to hang on for dear life. "It wasn't pleasant," commented Mr. Reynolds. Anyhow, same old Corvette story. And you can't be the Best Driver's Car if your driver struggles.

Hmm but still with the first run the Z would have done much better time since its on cups not the f1 run crap ..this is 1/4 mile its all about the initial launch ..

Man I'm skinny at 6'2 and 175lbs and I hate our seats. I had a bruise on my left knee from having to brace myself against the door arm through right hand turns at the track.

I have no idea what you're talking about I'm very not fat and find the seats to be awful. But I knew that before I bought it and that didn't change my mind. We need mitsubishi evo seats!

If they always complain about the seats, just maybe there's something to it.
If I could bolt in a set of decent Recaros (GM seems to think they are worthy of the CTSV) stock seats would be history in a quick second.
Once you've had good performance seats, you can't go back (at least not happily.)

Cool video. I thought the GT3 looked sick and would have done better. I thought they should have done a lap with these cars and the results would have been much different

For anything other then cruising, the seats do suck. The Corvette team needs to address this for the C7. I dont care for the elderly, cruising type. They are whats been keeping us back.

My friend shared that link on his facebook because he loves any video where the GTR comes out on top. But my response/comment every time is just a link -

Lol
Anyone see the new LFA lap time of 7:14 in the "nurburgring edition"? Pretty sick

Of course a z06 can run an 11.9. Saying they run 11.2-11.7 doesn't mean much. Best I've seen a stock one do here is 12.7s. Elevation, D/A, weather, track surface, etc. An airport isn't a prepped track surface. It could have been 100+ degrees out with the car pulling 5+ degrees of timing. Who knows?

This is why i belive the Z06 should of gotten a HP increase, at least 30HP. 505 HP is just not cutiing it anymore, every body else, even the R8 got an increase, while the z06 stayed at 505. SMH!

Traction killed the Z look at the video again. I think the car spun first gear until 60 mhp

So, here's my opinion. If it were not for the 50s and older group, GM would not sell enough Z06s or ZR1s to continue making them, or they would be $150k each. Can't think of too many people that can challenge that assumption with facts.
As for the seats, they can be upgraded just as all other things can. It's been said a million times before, but the Z06 is an amazing car for the $84k you can buy them for new - now, anyway. Few cars can come close in all categories: price, performance, style, features and gas mileage. Each time I go to a car show, and each time I read the articles and specifications on other performance cars, I always end up appreciating my new 2011 Z06, with Z07 and Carbon option even more - $85k plus tax and license.
To whine about the nav or the seats, or the this or that, will only result in an increase in price, so you pay them now, or pay them later for the upgrades - but upgrades are never free. The advantage to upgrading to custom seats is the benefit of choice. Whereas, if GM supplied special seats at $1k or more per car - still, not everyone would like them.

Haha that is so funny. I wedge my left leg against the speaker for right turns and it cuts my knee up. And on left turns, i wedge my right leg right below the center console bezel, and the 3LZ stitching cuts my right knee up. It is painful driving these Z's...

The drag was nice and all but did anyone read the whole article? This is my favorite quote...
"Let's get this out of the way right now: The Z06 decimated the competition around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The devilish Chevrolet, which showed up with 666 miles on the odometer, was more than a second faster around the track than the second-place Ferrari 458 Italia, and faster still than every other contender. No car was even close to the time laid down by the LS7-engined monster, despite the fact that the Fezza, the Lexus, the Audi, the Mercedes, and the Nissan all packed more horsepower."
