Default Borla Introduces New C6 Touring, S-Type, ATAK Exhaust w/Video

Hello all, this is Chris Higgins with Borla Exhaust (www.borla.com) in Oxnard, CA. We’re pleased to announce the release of several new parts for the 2009+ C6 Corvette. The 2005-2008 C6 parts will be released shortly.

In our continuous R&D push to better ourselves and our products, we’ve re-engineered our Touring, S-Type, and ATAK exhaust systems. While the Touring and ATAK kits will be replaced with new part numbers, we will continue to offer our Classic S-Type sound. Whether you have the automatic or manual, the coupe or convertible; we’ve improved the overall sound quality both inside and outside the cabin. You’ll hear our newly enhanced & amplified exhaust note at any RPM, in any gear.

If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must answer 1000 forum questions. As such, we just wrapped shooting video of our newest Corvette parts with our long-time partners at Bob Bondurant’s Racing School of High Performance Driving (www.bondurant.com). You can find the full video here: http://www.youtube.com/borla#p/u/0/oz0e4FT-xZU

Thanks for your continued feedback, enthusiasm, and interest in our products!!

The intro looks awesome. I can't wait to see the rest. Will the new ZO6 ATAK system be featured in the video? I would really love to hear it.

Thanks,
Joe

Does the new model of stinger have the same weight advantage over the competition as the old one did?

Thanks,
Ben

Thanks Ben, for starters I just want to make it clear that we're going to keep the old "S-type" in our catalog and available for sale so no worries for anyone who prefers the old style.

The new "S-Type", "Touring" and "ATAK" systems completely eliminate drone and the mufflers are a bit heavier than the old "S-Type".

The video (coming soon) will help in making a decision for sure.

Quick question... how come on Borla's website, some of the C6 ATAK systems have the usual staggered s-type looking mufflers while others have the mufflers featured in the above pictures?

We redesigned the old ATAK systems to completely eliminate interior resonance at all RPM's. The old ATAK mufflers used a similar body to the S-Type and the new ATAK mufflers are the ones you see above.

We will be replacing the old ATAK system with the new one so there will only be one part number for ATAK for C6.

However we will have 2 S-Type systems because we are keeping the old S-Type due to its popularity and are offering the new S-Type for the reasons Chris mentions above.

Thanks

Hmmm...interesting.

May have to switch out my current stingers for the new ATAK once my big cam goes in.

I look forward to the video.

I've had Borla on every car I've owned....never been let down

Nice comparison. Did the cars have any mods on them? Thanks for posting.

There are no other engine modifications on these vehicles other than the exhaust systems but I believe they do have upgraded brakes, tires and suspension. Of course they have racing seats and harnesses as well. Traction control is disengaged obviously.

Thanks,

db

Awesome video! All three exhaust systems sound amazing. As usual you guy's have the best sounding exhaust systems for our cars. I have one question though. How does the sound of the C6 ATAK system compare to the C6 ZO6 ATAK system?

I just went down to the Borla facility to have their new C6 Z06 ATAK full cat-back system installed on my 08 Z06. I will be writting a full report in the Z06 section within the next couple of days. The system still uses and will remain designed as the previous systems were, and I was told that ALL Z06 systems will remain as is, and will not follow the same redesign path as the C6 systems will. I am very happy, and the sound is awesome, along with great customer support from the wonderful staff at Borla.
