difference between ls3 vette & ls3 camaro
anyone know the difference between the ls3 vette and the ls3 camaro?? seems to me that a worked vette tears up the dyno over a worked camaro. is it just gearing? i have a stock 03 ls1 vette and a stock 2011 ls3 camaro. a short race between the two didnt seem the camaro was much faster. and thats an old ls1. so is there a difference from vette to camaro? i havent driven an ls3 vette yet but my ls1 seems to take off a lot faster then my camaro.

yea i was just curious if head design was different or something , just seemed to me that vettes have way better throttle response and take right off on dyno compared to camaros.

Not sure what you're talking about.
Plenty of LS3 Camaros have been dynoing right at the 500rwhp mark cam-only...just like LS3 vettes with big cams.
My friend went 12.7 bone stock in his 2010 SS camaro in 80 degree weather. No 4th gen EVER did that stock. His Camaro also dynod in the 420s with just tuning and headers.
What dynos have you been looking at that show the vettes far over the Camaros? Are you looking at the Auto camaros? They pick up INSANE horsepower after tuning. Stock the auto camaros dyno low though.

i know they make plenty of power , i guess it seems to me like the vettes have more take off power even with big cams compared to camaros. like i said i was just wondering if there was a difference in engines. you guys are right though i keep forgetting camartos are heavier. i definitely feel the power in my camaro at high rpm i guess i want more low end torque

im basically getting ready to work the hell out of my camaro and im trying to compare a lil bit to corvette guys builds. gotta do my homework before i spend the money. probably should of just bought another vette lol

Same LS3 in the Vette and M6 Camaros. A6 Camaro gets an L99 which is about 25 hp less (compression ratio is less and has variable valve timing). The LS3 in the Camaro is rated slightly less than the Vette's LS3 probably due to intake and exhaust differences.
The big difference in the two, as others mentioned, is the weight difference. 6 to 700 extra lbs make a huge difference.

Weight. Thats a lot of extra lbs on the Camaro. It will kill throttle response feel, and acceleration, in relation to the much lighter vette. Also if you are seeing lower dyno numbers an auto trans will put out lower numbers, as well as big *** heavy bling wheels if the owner has those

First you were talking about dynoing lower, then you say they make plenty of power, then you say you should stop watching dyno vids? I don't see why, they make the same power on the dyno.
As for "take off" power, of course a vette is faster. It makes the same power with about 600 less pounds to carry around.

For many, many years, the Vette and Camaro have had the same engine. Going back to the 80's until present, the Camaro hp numbers were always slightly lower. Yes, there are intake and exhaust differences, however, it is well known that marketing plays a role too. GM would never let the Camaro have the same hp as the Vette, when you're comparing models with the same engine.

The big difference has always been the weight except in the late 70s and early 80s when the C3 gained 400 to 500 lbs over the earlier versions of the model.

The LS3 is the same long block in both cars. Some of the minor differences attached to the engines are oil pan, windage tray, dipstick, one valve cover, and exhaust manifolds. The power difference is due to the exhaust and IIRC the rpm of the rating.
The differences between the cars that the engine is in, is obvious.
