Where is the Fuse Box

Where is the Fuse Box
I have a 1996 coupe and my reverse lights and plate lights don't turn on. Also, the lights under the hood don't turn on. I'm hoping it will just be the fuses. I read that there is a fuse box in the passenger side door. Where is the fuse for the under the hood and the reverse and plate light. I figured that if it has 2 lights, that if one blows out, the other wouldn't be off.

the fuses are not "in" the door. Rather, there is a panel on the right side of the dash where it mates up with the passenger door (when it's closed).

Didn't you get an owners manual with the car?
If not, you can download on in pdf format here:
http://www.gmpartshouse.com/download...96corvette.pdf
It sure isn't a replacement for the service manual, but it has lots of very useful information about all of the features of your car.

Found that one very early when going to car shows...leaving the lights on all night made for a not too happy battery...and the hood would get hot above the lights.

OMG This is the simplest question you could ask! Do as Rolla suggests, BUY an owners manual and a Factory Service Manual. These two items are indispensable and will provide the BASIC information you ask about.

Like Jabez posted, give me a break. I don't have access to any manuals right now. I just came back from Iraq after serving 3 tours. My wife bought me the car as a coming home present. If I had the time like you do, I would be reading the manuals, but unless message boards have changed since I left for Iraq why would people even ask questions? A message board is for information, not rude comments. I would never chastise (give a hard time) a member for asking any questions. I would feel good about myself that I was able to help someone out. Maybe that's why I was lucky to come home in one piece, because people in the Marine's help each other out no matter what. Next time, maybe you just shouldn't comment on my posts. Hope you can do that because it seems like you like to tell me what's wrong instead of helping me. Taking up space on my posts just wastes my time instead of reading all the other members answers my questions. Try joining any military corp and you will find out that everyone helps each other or the time training is just wasted. Semper Fi

With no manuals the fuse box is hard to find. It's not in a very logical place. I would be a good idea to download the links above and familiarize yourself with the Vette's idiosyncrasies and foibles. If you're going to do a lot of your own work please get the FSM from E-Bay. You'll use it all the time and it's much more accurate on most things than a forum. 3 tours eh, you must have learned when to Duck. I hope you part timers didn't screw up my Marine Corps too badly.

For all those who have served, thank you for your service to this country,I only wish America was still a country of pride and intuition it once was but with honor and love of country it can be again.

I thank you and all veterans for the service given. Our country would not be where its at today without it. I am sure getting adjusted back at home will be a tough thing and your C4 will help. Welcome home.
I dont know if you noticed but I did supply links that I searched to help you. If I rode you hard and you take offense to that I am sorry. I am trying to encourage you to look at the great wealth of info we have here. It will certainly be faster than waiting for folks to answer your post.
If I comment from this day forward I will continue to provide links to help solve your issue and I will refrain from any snide comments. As I knew nothing of your background, you know nothing about me other than I am an Azzhole so dont make any assumptions other than that. At least that is a true statement.

Dr_Shakalu, as a 34 year veteran (retired) I also thank you for your service. I made my last flight out of Balad in Feb 2008 headed back to Ramstein. My youngest son is a C-17 loadmaster, he flies in/out of Ashcanistan every couple of weeks.
There are some great folks on this board, very knowledgeable about our chosen mode of transportation...there are a few wiseazzes, but really...listen to what they tell you. Sometimes Google is quicker than waiting for a reply on here...if you've got a C4 issue chances are well above 95% that someone else had that same problem, and it has been answered/solved.
We were all first time Vette owners at one point...learn, live, and prosper!
BTW...my buddy wants to know if your wife has a sister.

This should help.
I disconnected my hood lights years ago. No need for them at home when the hood is up for extended times. The location is as described in post 5.
