Default stripe on the hood

I am getting my 79 painted pearl white. I think it is a 2011 infiniti pearl white. I am thinking of putting a strip on the raised part of the stock hood and was wondering if anyone has some pictures of their strips. I have mirrored t-tops so I don't want to go all the way back with the stripe. Thoughts and opinions please. The stripe will be a very light shade of grey.

for some reason, I just have never felt that traditional center 'racing stripes' have ever been that successful looking on the C3

might be that I just don't like them going all the way down the nose
...where i think stuff like this works better

... including the last C3, Collector Series(or whatever it was called)

..and the two tone Vette paint style

another idea might be the 'reveres stripe'

Yeah, the silver Vette has it nailed..fantastic !!
The stripe, no matter how it's configured, needs to stop where the hump emerges from the flat portion on the hood.

I have always felt that stripes that extend for the full length of the car are not stripes anymore just lines. Thats why I tapered mine off on the hood and then wrapped the back of the car.

If you had a L88 hood the stripe coming out of the hood scoop like on the 2 tone silver/gray car looks good. If you have a stock '79 hood you may want to consider something like the '78 Pace Car hood stripes. If you run the stripe down the center of the hood the shape of the stripe in the front of the hood and where you start the stripe from gets a little tricky. I'm not trying to tell you what to do. I'm just trying to point out some things to consider so you get the "look" you want. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I really don't like the stripe going all the way to the front bumper either. I do have an original 79 hood so I was thinking something like Skip Bruneys car. Not sure if I want to wrap the rear end though. the older style C3 bumpers look alot better than the 79....but I don't have one like that. Still thinking.

hmmm, I wasn't even thinking about what could happen with a stripe on the back of a `79 with the big window taking up most of the rear

here is a `79 with just the raised cowl of the hood painted

tho if you look, its got a later `80~`82 rear bumper cover
http://blog.wheelsnext.com/index.php...gtons-bear-de/
...personally I like the slopped 'soft tail' of the `74~`79 cars...and at most if you have to have a rear spoiler to use a `78 Pace Car add on one(I believe also factory on some `79 cars)

is that the rear bumper you have on your car?

...or without the spoiler?

sometimes those spoilers can look OK painted with a accent color, but otherwise you don't have much room to carry the stripe to the back unless you go all they way down the rear bumper

funny one of the first Corvettes I fell in love with(I was 16 and it was in the Nov 1979 MotorTrend mag I subscribed to) was a `79 with a stripe
http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2009/...d-c3-corvette/

also Custom Image Corvettes is doing a rear bumper cover to have the look of early cars
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...es-flares.html

just tossing any ideas out there

Mine does not have a spoiler. I like the red one. Might go with something like that. I am going to paint the little bumperetts (usually black) the same color as the stripe.
