6 sec 1986 C4 Coupe
Saw this racecar at the Perth dragstrip last night. Driven by a guy from the top end (Northern Territory) of Australia. Awesome looking car. Listed as running a chev 510.

That is one of Fastest and Meanest C4's in the world.
And its in Australia.
Built there too.
Sure is faster than any C4 members car here in the USA.
Just imagine he added just 10% or 20% nitro fuel to the car............
Deep into 5's in the 1/4 mile.
Renegade 5.0 Mustang Guys in Chicago area,
Some have 2,000 HP twin Turbo cars.
Cant wait till they run at Rt 66 at Chicago raceway this coming June.
Not a C4 in America that I know that can run with those guys.
Some of those Fords are running Low 6's in 1/4 mile now.
Some of those Fords Run only 10.5" inch wide rear drag radials tires in the rear.....................
6's @ over 200MPH.
That's Cooking Fast on such a narrow rear tire.
Those Renegade Driver's tell me its just like driving on ice down the 1/4 mile with all the power and Narrow Rear tires.
But they continue to break old records and set new ones every year.
Wont be long before those Fords break into the 5's.
Not enough groundbreaking innovations for the C4's in the USA for a long time.

This is only a group 3 doorslammer (still has doors and is LHD). Funny cars are generally a lot quicker (4 sec), centre driven, no doors, full race chassis, longer, don't look much like the original car and run on nitro or alcohol.

Unless I am greatly mistaken if you look at the video closely it takes the car about 9-10 sec to cover the quarter mile. From what I can make out the time of 4.95s is also already showing on the screen a long way before the end of the quarter mile.
I am sure there are plenty of eagle eye drag racers who could comment.

Apparently sometime after this video the yellow vette had a fire and structural damage caused by parachutes ripping the back end off. I like the new paint job and body work. Especially the smiling firey skull on the hood.

Here is one that runs a 7.0 in the 1/4 and is actually a c4..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtotvvn7wxg
I don't know if this is the car I was searching for, but it is really fast. There is a red turbo c4 in the 6's if I remember right. I think I remember a video of it flipping over and sliding across the finish on its roof. I will have to look around for the videos.

But is it street legal?
Check post number 4.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-f...-corvette.html
"The 1984 Corvette makes approximately 2,400 HP and has run a 6.87 @ 210 in the quarter (4.59 @ 164 in the 8th). When set on a milder boost level, it runs consistent mid 7s. It launches at 3,800 RPM and I change gears at 7,600. It weighs 3,150 without me in it. It has turn signals, power windows, horn, etc. and is street driven (not a lot!)."

So where is that guy and his car now? Are they both still alive or are they both in car heaven? Last seen sliding on its roof in 2006 ...
