qa1 single adjust discontinued. and now what to buy ? help
I already have the qa1 single adj on the rear of my 69 427 ( spirited driving -road racing )
today i wanted to buy the front shocks TC1959P but they are not available anymore. just 1 left at summit, nothing elsewhere.
and now ?
the dual adjust qa1 are so expensive...and they are on back order. options ? what about koni adjustable ?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KO...1019/?rtype=10
any experience?
they are adjustable in rebound only
i have to buy tomorrow...

How about the QA-1 R1959P did you also call "Jegs" or "QA-1" ? The koni's kind of suck as far as adjustment goes because you have to remove them to adjust and it is kind of guessing game even when you try to make a change. That is why i like QA-1

For the $$$ Koni does the job the best, the Penske's require too much maintenance for the performance they offer.
Koni North America seems to have a great sale on the Classic shocks right now, under $200 a pair!

they say " firm compression , adjustable rebound"
possibly what i need... but i need to understand first
I have f41 suspensions and ride height. REAR qa1 single adj. they are fine , better than Bilstein SPORT that were damn stiff! I use rear qa1 at 3rd-4th click from soft. going further the 4th is unuseful
FRONT i have now Bilstein HD but too soft , too little damping , front end of car bouncing .
So ,does " firm compression , adjustable rebound" will work? I think i need firm compression to contrast nose dive when braking and dampen body roll when cornering.
softer rebound seems good because will bring down faster the inside wheel while cornering and will make easier that the tires follow the road after a bump . Am i wrong?
doubts :
-will the softer rebound will make the nose bouncy anyway?
- they say "stiff compression " . yes but how much ? being a drag race shock , how stiff are drag shocks in compression? standard like a bilstein HD or very stiff like a bilstein SPORT?

my disclaimer is that I have not used them. calling QA-1 might get a better answer.
The front spring rate determines how much ultimate front end dive you get. The compression rate of the shock slows the spring compression.
You want as little shock compression as practical. I believe that my frame rails cracked where the rear a-arm bolt attaches as a direct result of 700 pound springs and to much compression resistance on my QA-1 dual adjust.
Rebound dampening resists spring oscillation or the bouncy feel

at the end the only place where the shocks seemed available was this. otherwise discontinued

received today . but the code on the boxes is not TC1959P, it's TS508 . I found nowhere this code... Disappointed at first , then i have checked dimensions and fitment and look fine. I put the stud in a vise and checked compression and rebound by hand and it looks that they are about the same and equally increasing while turning the ****. actually the rebound looks a little stronger than compression. i tried till the 4th click , then too hard

Call Van Steel and ask for Paul. He knows his C3's, Autocross and Shocks. If the Single ajust QA-1s really are discontinued it dosn't matter cause He is going to Talk You into the Dual Ajust Fronts anyway.

Anyway-I just got the semi coil overs ( single adjust QA1) from Van Steel- at $569/set minus the 10% Corvette Forum discount- I think I'm gonna be real happy w/ them.

Thanks Gkull
look at pics.i show the problem
wheels on the ground. there's always 1 bushing that doesn't fit perfectly in the related hole. And if i make the spring less tight is even worse

test drive today after fitting
-qa1 front single adj
-adjustable sway bar links
-these QA1 TS508 are really the way to go in my opinion ( already tried Bilsteins HD and sports). i have found a good setting at click 8 but i can go even harder in the setting without increasing the ride harshness. they dampen the springs in the way i like but without seriously affecting the comfort. tight ride but not harsh. i'm somewhat surprised
-adjustable way bar links.
even if they don't fit perfectly ( see above pics) they work and i like them. I believe that a big sway bar like mine requires those
-Gtr1999 steering box. Gary's job has been reported on the forum many times and i confirm that his steering box is very tight and no play ( possibly just a tiny bit but it could be something i have overlooked). Good job. i just fear that with my manual steering and the big effort in steering , the tight setting of this box could go away because gear's stress-wear
