Looking for the BEST street drag/racing tires out there for my C5. Great traction and some durability, and I mean some. Not too worried about how long they last. Just want the BEST traction, and a decent/OK ride. Have had F1 Racers for the past 10 years on my '97 baby, but looking for better traction. Racers are fine but they don't BITE. Softer and glueIer is WANTED... No problem if they wear fast. Just want the BEST street traction.

The baby sits on a garage in the states as I live in China now, so I only get to drive her about a month or two a year, and after all the mods and $$, the HP needs to be used...

Did a search on he forums but could not get the right results.

What Ya'll suggest?

i ran mickey thompson et street radial 2's and would spin a bit in first (to be expected) and dead hook in second. thats with 604 rwhp. if your going to be driving alot i suggest a radial and not bias ply.

I bought some Nitto Drag radials, kinda looking for something that would last longer than the BFs or MTs. They hook better than regular tires, but still spin a bit. I am still experimenting with the burnout, etc. I have about 2k miles on them and still look pretty new. When i buy new wheels, I am going to switch to MT radials on my front wagons

I have toyo R888s and love them. They stick amazingly and are lasting very well.

with you but with big rwhp the M/T D/R will do the best for sure.

Ask 10 people, get 10 answers. Personally, I had M&H radials on my car before I swapped out for M&H bias ply. Both were absolutely fantastic tires. The bias ply slicks did a little better on the street for me, but the radials would have last much longer.

I hear good things from the above mentioned tires for being "sticky" but are you only interested in straight line performance or handling/street manners as well ? You may want to consider which of them has the stiffer sidewall, i'm not sure but i think the Nitto does

Street Tires are for ths Street, Racing on the street not a good idea, Gives Vettes a bad rap.

I vote for the Toyo R888's they are pretty awesome

And they come in the 19" size

Thanks for the info guys... Have always heard great things about the r888's and other tires mentioned here. Not huge rwhp, last Dyno was in the mid 400's so I should be fine.

I think I'll give the Toyo's a try... So now looking to order them, and my fav store Tirerack does not carry Toyo's at all? Hmmm!

Any good suggestions on online stores? And these bad boys are not cheap! More than my last F1's. Are they really worth it?

Ok guys, been reading all over for the past couple of days and a bit puzzled. Maybe I misled with my first post, as I am looking for the best traction while street driving, not looking for drag tires. Mostly driven in dry/warm weather.

So call me a dumba$$, but I do not race my Vette, I might just drive it HARD sometimes, but never race it. As I read about to R888's and other tires, they are for more "hardcore" driving that for what I'll be doing.

The main reason for this post was because the GY F1's I've had for a few years NEVER met my expectations. I found that the traction provided was not adequate, as spinning, fish tailing, etc. was WAY TOO common.

So now, what you'll think is the best tire for street driving regardless of durability. Best performance street driving tires?

the best performance tire is the M/T Raidials i think. but sounds like youll be fine with some nittos

The streets are working very well on my ol 70 Nova. 400 RWHP.Little issue putting it down.
Also Made In USA. The only choice.
