[Help] 05 LS2 Noise from Pulleys
Hello,
When i start the car a noise from the serpent belt came.
I checked that the sound comes from one pulley, but i dont know what is this pulley.
Here ae the picture (marked with #1):
I toke a short video, few minutes ago. Here in Portugal is night so i toke a light to see better.

I am fairly certain that is the water pump. Probably need to replace it. Do you have any coolant leaking in that area? If that is, in fact, the leaking pully then I would replace the water pump.

I'm not a mechanic but 05's have had some problems with the crank bolt. The problem was corrected starting with VIN 11009. Search 05 crank bolt. Hopefully it's not your problem. Good Luck

I would say that it is questionable. I also have an 05 in the questionable vin range. Mine does not wobble at all, or not that I can tell. I bought a small mechanics mirror so I can actually see that bolt and put a mark on it to see if it moves. Some one else with more experience in this matter will probably chime in. If it needs to be repaired it is a $1000 dollar job.
I can tighten screw? to stop the wobble?
And the noise is from here or from the pulleys?
Thanks

Safety Car
My LS2 was doing that also. The harmonic balancer was indeed wobbling...but not much. It was enough to get a sound from it, but it went away after the engine warmed up. Luckily I traded it in before any issues developed.

They CAN NOT be re torqued, must be replaced with new bolt and DEW washer. It also was not a recall, but a TSB. I believe the noise comes from the belt not running true with the pulley.

If your car is indeed one of the cars recalled and never repaired, I would get it fixed ASAP. If the balancer comes off it will do a lot of damage. Call the closest chev. dealer (whever that may be) and give them your vin #. They can tell you if the car was ever serviced for the recall or if there is a open recall.

"must be replaced with new bolt and DEW washer" I believe this is an involved process, not for the DIY. I would first call the chevy dealer in Spain to comfirm if your 'vette has ever been serviced for this problem.
