Does the C6 respond to a "dyno-tune" ?
I've had my 04 C5 dynotuned for a resulting 40+ hp gain for $500, cheap hp.
I've heard the C6 LS3 doesn't allow the tuner to unlock the power mgmt system that allows significant improvements. I'm looking to buy a 09 C6 430hp coupe but I'm pretty sure my C5 is faster.
The C5 runs 12.80's at 109.75, just a Varam Intake exhaust cutouts and dyno tune and its a 2.72 gear automatic !
I sure hate to trade for a slower car. Anybody got any experience on squeezing cheap hp out of the LS2 for numbers like $500 ?

Use the SEARCH utility at the top of the page. You'll find tons of information about tuning and getting more HP.

I guess whomever you heard from doesn't know sh*t about a C6, and apparently neither do you if you think a tuned C5 is faster than an LS3. C6
It doesn't take much searching to find numbers on dynotunes here.

Thank you Jimmy Jam!
Hey there fella... There's two ways to do this....
Purchase the AutoCal and we can tune it thru your e-mail, or....
Come to Coral Springs second week of January and I'll do it live in person.
Guaranteed to stay far in front of your old C5!

The 2009 c6 corvette responds very well to dyno tuning. I have not had any problems with any of my cars from tuning. I use Behe Performance in Maryland for all my mod installs and tuning work. They have tuned my 2010 grand sport, not only did the car make more power but also got better fuel economy and no more black soot on the rear bumper. They also tuned my 2010 camaro and 2006 gto with the same results. I talked with my tuner and he informed me that some companies that use software such as ls edit and hp tuners cant tune the cars even close to the way they should be, they use efi live and work hand and hand with some of the gm tech guys. You shouldn't have any problems tuning your car if you use a professional shop like Behe Performance. Give them a call and talk to the guys there before you let someone tune your car threw emails. you can also see some of there work at www.beheperformance.com or www.facebook.com/pages/Behe-Performance.

I watched two bone stock Ls-3's run 12.50 at 115-116.
So the worry over buying a slower car is nuts. Any C-6 is faster than a C-5. The Dyno tune is not worth it unless you mod something and need the dyno tune. I have had 6-7 plus dyno tunes on 3 Corvette's.
The 2009 C-6 would smash your C-5!

Had an 01, now have an 05. The 05 is definitely faster in all respects. Even with CAI, headers and tune, a bone stock C6 is still faster. Add a tune, headers and CAI, the C6 will leave a C5 in the dust.

Take it easy man. Why speak to people like that. This is a forum where people ask questions to get answers, not smart *** remarks from jerks like you. You obviously know sh*t about this forum and what it's about.

i guess i have gotten the answers I was looking for about dyno-tuning a LS-3
The results were, heck yes the LS3 responds in like ways to the LS-1 when it first started being dynotuned.
Supriseingly some criticized me, telling me I didn't know sh*t. If I were the king of LS-3's I wouldn't have had to ask the question but the forum always suprises. Way more darn nice people and a smaller amount of I feel better when I put other people down" types.
Without a doubt the info helped, immensely.
I am embarking on a little test to see if my C5 with cai and drag radials can run in C6 territory by adding a 3:72 gearset and more aggresssive tune on motor/tranny. The bulk of the 10 cars listed by CXIXXI ran mostly low 12.teen's with automatics, thats my target 12.12 to 12.18
Might as well find out before I sell the 04 for a newer C6

BSSN you are right it wasn't 40 rwhp but 46 rwhp, thanks for letting me correct that.
BSSN, said: "You won't get 40whp from a tune alone on a C5 or C6."
I didn't get 40rwhp I got 46rwhp, From: 13.30 @ 106.50 to 12.89 @ 109.75 282 rwhp before tune and 328rwhp after tune. Thats 46rwhp.
The tune was done by Mike Norris at Horsepower Sales in Pompano Beach, Florida. If you doubt me, I would be happy to show you the dyno results but then you would have to say you were wrong.
Did you think I made up the 40-46 rwhp numbers out of the blue. I've been here over 10 years and I don't need to inflate numbers that are published and printed out in front of 10 people.
I think the numbers they produced are easily achieved and they are no not out of the range in any way.
Spend more time reading rather than posting and you will learn quite a bit.
