Default Has anybody weighed their GTO spare rim?

I am thinking about getting some gto spares with the M&H radial skinnies. I am trying to find out the weight of the rim and the tire individually. Anybody?

Don't remember individual weight but I think my spare and m&h bias ply together weigh 21lbs.

Not sure about the individual weight of the wheel but the tire and wheel together weigh 26lbs.

That makes sense since the bias ply are a little lighter than the radials.

I was just gonna ask if you were running the M&H 185/55-17 radials. I just ordered these for the fronts and the hoosier 275/40-17's for the rear. It looks as though I will be able to drop around 80lbs of rotating weight from my current set up with these tires, GTO spares, and C5 Z06 17 by 9.5" rims! Bummer that I have to wait till spring to test them out.

Yes, that's my exact setup.

I'll be racing again on New Years Day and have a hard enough time with the 5 week downtime period we have here so I definitely don't envy you.

M&H bias 26x4.50x17 frontrunners on GTO spare and wide adapter spacer[ZO6-C6]. Rears- C5- ZO6 17x9.5 fronts wheels with MT ETstreets 26x11.50x17 bias. Big time weight reduction in wheels and tires. radials are a heavy tire. This our season in S. FL. for cool weather..

Wow. I forgot to weigh mine before I put them on. I dropped 33 lbs per wheel with that mod (295/35/18 fronts on repos).

66 lbs for wheels and 53 lbs for the seat = almost a .1 so far. Good mod.

Got my vert down to

I recently purchased some gto spares and m&h 185/55R-17 radial skinnies. The radials weighed more than I had hoped they would so I ended up ordering the 4.5/26-17 bias ply front runners. So here are the individual weights of the tires and wheels for anybody who is interested.

gto spare wheel without any tire = 13.25 lbs

M&H 185/55R-17 = 18.50 lbs

M&H 4.5/26-17 bias = 11.50 lbs

I weighed my GTO spare with no tire @ 14lbs. The OEM C5 thin spoke polished wheel weighed in @ 16lbs. I lost 6 lbs on my fronts when compared to the OEM GTO wheel. I love my thin spokes!!

Wow, pretty close. Of course when you factor in the weight of the tires that two pound gap widens a bit.
Did the C5 thin spokes really weigh only 16 pounds though, I'd always heard that they were closer 17+ or even 18 pounds?
I guess each scale can vary a bit.

I used to have pics of when I measured them but they are on my old hard drive. I haven't been able to recover them yet. Once I hook it up to my new computer, I'm hoping they'll still be there.

THis was your typical run of the mill bathroom scale so give or tale a pound. However, there was a 2 lbs difference between the two. And I'm sure the M&H front runners are lighter than the spare rubber on the GTO spare.

to spare wheel without any tire = 13.25 lbs

Sorry for resurrecting this 9 month old thread, but this is great info!

I have a set of these GTO spares for my 02 SS (17" rims needed to clear StopTech brakes), but didn't have a chance to weight them without the tires.

I was looking into a set of Weld RTS 17 x 5 rims... but if these rims only weigh 13.25 pounds, I doubt I will lose that much weight by switching...

Does anyone know the weight of a Weld RT-S 17x5 rim?

Thanks in advance!
