Christmas is for children. But it is for grownups too. Even if it is a headache, a chore, and nightmare, it is a period of necessary defrosting of chill and hide-bound hearts."
~ Lenora Mattingly Weber (1895-1971), American author. This tidbit of wisdom would resonate with many Americans even if the portion reserved for adults is more self imposed than the sentiment implies. The even greater irony here is the fact that we were all children and some of us still are. Don’t believe me? Think about the people who raised you (mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, sister, etc.) Do these people conjure images similar to those reserved for the bill collectors in your life or is an all together different association? In turn, all that is required at Christmas time is pure honesty (acknowledging your youth –so to speak). The “Hot Wheels” have been replaced with real ones but in truth, unless you use your “toy” for practical things like hauling garbage, it is just that- a toy. This is the mindset that reconnects us “adults” to those little people who are still able to see the world through untainted child like eyes.
This December, The Orlando Automotive Club’s Cars and Café is all about revitalizing the joy of childhood. In turn, we are pleased to once again partner with the United States Marine Corps and their Toys for Tots Christmas Drive. Participation in the Toys for Tots drive, like our canned food drives is simple. All you have to do is bring new, unopened gifts to the meet and we’ll do the rest. We hope that you take this opportunity to reconnect with yourself and remember- charity begins at home and has a funny way of ending up right where it started.
Community Service
By now, the word about the Orlando Automotive Club’s commitment to charity is spreading but just to emphasize the point, we would like to remind everyone that:
• Recurring canned food drives & special initiatives meant to shed light on worthy causes like natural disasters and help for needy children are a staple of the club and our Cars and Café meet. We are officially partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orlando and the majority of our collected cans contribute to the great work they do in our community.
New Sponsors
We are proud of our sponsors and are always looking for new and enthusiastic organizations to join our already exceptional group. These sponsors are a special group of business leaders who serve the incredibly important function of providing hundreds of dollars in raffle prizes for you, the motorsport enthusiast. However, if you have not been to one of our meets and have not experienced our raffle, you need to know that the key to winning a prize is giving back! In specific, for each can that you bring to the meet, you get one extra raffle ticket so do the math and give back!
Special Features:
• You never know who will stop by one of our events!
Please remember that this month’s meet is on December 18th at The Route 46 Entertainment District.. We look forward to seeing each of you at what promises to be an awesome meet.

Yeah...the weather wasn't great, so there wasn't a real big turnout.
However, those that attended brought a good supply of toys, and they were all presented to the Marines for their Toys For Tots drive!!
I guess next month will be back to the last Saturday - which will be January 29th.
Unfortunately that's the day the Rolex 24 starts. I'll probably leave early to get up to Daytona for the start of the race!!!
Hope to see lots of Vettes next month!
