I'm going to be swapping out my fog bulbs, drl and turn signals tomorrow and I've got a hazard switch on the way. I'm going to go with the brighter 50W fogs and I'd just like to know the difference between these two bulbs...?

I think they'll both work and I've heard mixed info as to which is actually the stock replacement.

If there is one that is brighter, that's the one I'd like to match the fogs/headlights.

Dimensionally they look to be the same. Depending on which 4157 you get, it will draw more current, and give off more light.

Thanks man. I'm assuming that the 4157NAK is the one to get? If anyone is running these with success...lemme know.

The current shouldn't be too much more I wouldn't think from such a small bulb...

Or actually, aren't the 3157 the OEM stock replacement bulb equivalent?

I'm gonna search around some more...

I just pulled one. It's a 4157NA. NOT 4157.

As per this post, I bought a pack of 3157's and they may work but they are clear. The 4157NA is amber.

Any bulb with the "NA" suffix has amber colored glass (as opposed to painted yellow). The "K" refers to Krypton gas used internally giving longer filament/bulb life.

4157 in general is supposed to be a longer life bulb which is a good thing for use as the DRL since the signal filament is on constantly for the DRL's compared to a 3157 in most applications where it only comes on during braking or signalling. However, there are so many variations of both that it's hard to know which one is better so if you see either one with some kind of "long life" description it'd work too.

For a couple bucks use the 885s instead of 889 or 893s in your fogs.
Use them all the time and they are almost as bright as headlights.
Reaim the fogs parked about 20 feet from a light surface like a garage door with the low beam headlights on.

I am curious actually on which 4157 bulb draws more current if anyone has the answer to it. And if so where to buy it. IDK if y'all are referring to more current via LED OR HALOGEN but if HALOGEN that's what I'm curious about which 4157 bulb it is that draws more current. And I'm looking for the more Amber style look not the yellow style look of the HALOGEN bulb. 3157/4157 to me both look more yellowish and I'm looking / leaning towards more of an Amber color/orange look for HALOGEN bulb. only bulbs my truck will take for turn signal and DRL is 3157/4157 from what my truck manual says.
