Mobile version sucks - how do I get it off my iPhone???
I got a pop-up that offered me to try out the mobile version of forum access. I figured I'd take a look, and if I didn't like it I wouldn't use it.
I don't like it.
However, I can't get back to the old normal view!!!
I've tried putting in the normal URL, but it keeps taking me back to the m.corvetteforum URL that I do not want.

Try clicking on this link with your iphone:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/?styleid=4
It should set you to C4 theme, which you can then readjust to whatever theme you want

Yeah, that worked. But, you can only delete ALL cookies, so a bunch of cookies with data I wanted had to be deleted as well.
There really should be a warning notice associated with that pop-up about the mobile format. Forum members should know that it's not easy to get back to the normal format without messing up your iPhone.
It looks like you can try it out to see what it looks like, but once you try it you're stuck with it, unless you delete ALL cookies and a bunch passwords and other stuff for other sites.

Nearly all other browsers allow the user to be able delete all cookies, or singly delete cookies. There are many times when you would (or should) delete a single cookie rather than all cookies. It does look like that you'd need a 3rd party application to allow this feature on the iphone, atleast what it appears to me as a person who hasn't used an iphone for some time now.
I do agree that there should be an easier way out of the mobile version without even having to do any of the above. I will pass the word on about that, but cannot make any guarantees. I can say that practice is not completely uncommon on other sites. More than a few times I've been in the same situation, on very big, well known, sites that refuse to allow you to get out of their mobile theme.

You shouldn't get stuck on our new mobile theme. You may need to clear cookies once, but that should be it, I don't imagine you'll need to again.
The pop up should only appear once per day, and your choice will be saved from that point on.

I tried the mobile theme on my Android device, and as Robb pointed out above, I do have a "Normal Version" link at the bottom left-corner of the mobile theme. Clicking on that did take me back to the Normal Version and no deletion of cookies was necessary. Did it not work properly for you?
Also, using my Android device, even in the Mobile theme, I was able to use the link I initially posted above and it did take me to the normal theme as well.
Either the Androids are behaving differently, or your iphone may be?

Yeah, the mobile version is the suck.
The "normal version" first work on my iPhone either.
How do you clear the cookies?
Edit: n/m I figured it out

It should only ask you once per day. If you are seeing it more than that, please clear your cookies from your phone and re-visit the site. You will only have to do this one time.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

that's not how it's behaving for J T. It's also not how this behaved on any of the 20 sites we rolled it out before a site as big as CF.
I do not have any of the issues you guys are reporting when I use my iPhone.
Logging out doesn't do the same thing as clearing your cookies. Please ensure you are doing this from your phone before you try to log in again.
cheers,

I have to agree with Robb that it sounds like a cookie issue on the local side, or there is something else that may be factoring in.
My stock Android is behaving as expected. When I visit the site, I receive the prompt asking if I want the Mobile skin. If Cancel the prompt when asked if I want the Mobile theme, it keeps me in the normal (non-mobile) theme no matter where I move around the site without asking me again.
If the cookie isn't "sticking" on your device, I can see the endless prompt scenario. In that case, I would suspect either the cookie is corrupt on the device or there may be something blocking it. With all the applications available for mobile devices and browsers, is it possible that's the reason why some are reporting this issue - because they're running something that is interfering with the process?

how about some more details
what phone? what version of android?
we tested this on an HTC Evo and did not have this issue. I can only assume the problem is a stale cookie on your end.
