Roof Rattling when in Hatch
Anyone else with a targa roof have a problem with it making an incredible amount of noise (rattling/squeaking) when you put your roof into the rear hatch?
I don't remember it making this much noise right when I got the car, but it had been several months since I had removed the roof prior to this weekend.
I can't really tell if it is part of the roof, or the latches making the noise to be honest. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks for your time .

Mine does it when I hit a bump.It really is a poorly engineered system.Problem after problem with these things. It just about takes off when I hit the littlest bump in the road.

My 06 top does creak a little bit when it's in the back. It's a little annoying but I'm not sure if it's "normal" or not. Interested to see what others are saying.

I wouldn't call it normal, but it is very common. My top does the same thing. It has to do with the holding "arms" that stick up out of the forward holders (note all the scientific names). If anyone knows how to fix it, I'm all

My 05 does it all the time. I have two black face cloths riding in the bins in the rear. I lay one in each bracket when I take the top down and it totally eliminates the creaking.

Mine used to do this and it drove me crazy.
Look at the front 2 top retainers, the flat areas, and you will probably see where the plastic shows signs of wear - this is where the top is rubbing on it causing all the noise. The trick is to put 2 strips of Velcro (the softer loop side) on each of the retainers like the following post shows:

That was 3 years ago - forgot I even did it, I guess that means it worked.

Our 2009 came from the factory with fuzzy Velcro strips in the "pockets" at the front of the top where the trunk storage hooks fit in. Pretty quiet.

Yes, that was the factory 'fix' - not sure when they started doing it, I know they issued a TSB about it though. As for the rest of us, we could take it in to have it done, but I prefer the personal field retrofit method.
