Don't tell me , let me guess - your wife won't travel without 6 pairs of shoes..

The C2 has quite a bit of space if you raise the top...

61-62 has a lot more room than earlier versions. dunno about 63 up. top up or down makes no difference in the solid axle cars.

I am going to show my age here but.... I remember fitting people in the trunk of a 58 to get them into the drive in. I do not know how to do that in a non trunk vette!

Look .. those two guys on Route 66 went all over the country with just one suitcase on a luggage rack installed on the trunk lid of their '61. So what's the big deal....?

I love questions like this.

I can only guess that you are basing a potential aquisition on the amount of luggage space, or you don't want to drag suitcases to the garage to decide which of the 2 Corvettes you already own will make a better road warrior.

I "only" have a Sting Ray convertible, so I'll give you half an answer:

In the tool bins it has tools (ratchets, wrenches, electrical meter, etcetera), jumper cables, spare belt, bearings, wiper blade inserts, original jack and lug wrench, overalls, and a Chilton manual

In the storage area, it will hold 2 pullman suitcases, 2 rucksacks jammed with 4 pairs of hiking boots, a camera bag, a cooler, an AFFF fire extinguisher, first aid kit, umbrellas, a dirty clothes bag AND I can still put the top down OR I can hang a suitbag diagonally from the decklid with a suit and a formal dress in it. Try that in a straight axle car, and let me know how it works out.

I travel a lot in the car, and we have gone to a few weddings in it, one in Glacier Park in Montana.

THE DOWNSIDE: the top has to be opened to gain access to the decklid, and on a rainy day you need to stay at a motel with a canopy to keep the interior dry.

I would say the Midyear has a lot more space back there. I jam all my stuff plus my wife's crap! LOL

With all due respect I beg to differ.

When my wife and I travel (Vettes on the Rockies or Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend) we travel with the top up and use that space for a lot of stuff. It adds a fair amount of available luggage space.

I'd say that my 62 has a bigger trunk than 60 and back, just the way the back end is higher, but I think my 66 had about the same amount of room or a little more with the top up, but harder to use than a nice trunk. You really have to pop the top up in back to access the storage, unless you're a contortionist. Too bad they didn't make the back windows in the coupes open like a hatch.

Not sure about actual capacity but we can pack enough to travel 2 weeks in our 61 without doing laundry (no that's not wearing the same clothes for 2 weeks). That is with tools, fire extinguisher, and extra parts. There is a lot of room for storage with the top up or down for things in that compartment. Not sure if the C2's hold more or less, it's a different type of storage.

My 61 has alot more accessible luggage space than my 65 convertible. They may be close to the same amount of space but the trunk in the 61 makes it easier to access. With a convertible top down on the 65 you have next to nothing left.

Recently, the editor of Corvette Enthusiast and I took a 2500 mile road trip in my '67. That included 2 suitcases, 2 computer bags, a camera bag, a tool box, some spare parts etc. We ran with the top down 99% of the time...and this is even with a 6 point rollbar in the way!

The C-1's probably hold more, but with careful packing, a C-2 can swallow a lot of stuff!

We did have to leave one of the folding lawn chairs at home...but one did fit!

Absolutely correct, if you keep the top up. When I was single and in the Army, the 60 was the only car. Top well could hold quite a few long guns semi securely and out of sight.
Made a winery run to Clermont in the 60 and discovered that a 13X13X9case of wine has to lay on the side to fit in the trunk. By comparison, my 03 Z06 will easily handle four cases due to the much deeper trunk. The solution is to use non rigid packaging and mold to fit the cavity. Again, lots more useable space in the 61-62.

Space ? What space! In the trunk of a 55 it's a joke . If it's just me going some where I can live out of a paper bag . Taking the wife I pull a tear drop trailer just to carry her cloths.
