Default How do you remove the receiver/dryer bottle from a 79?

Hi, I have a new receiver dryer for the 79 as I have retro fitted everything needed for a R12 to 134 upgrade, the last thing left to do is replace the dryer, it's jammed in behind the fan box and the header tank from the radiator, how do you remove it?

Thanks, Dennis.

Remove the pan/rock shield below it, between the wheel well and the fire wall.
3 or 4 bolts and the pan drops out the bottom of the car.
You can then reach the dryer from under the car.

Or you can pull the heater box.

If you have side mount exhaust, the passenger header must be removed.

blckslvr79 is correct. There is an access panel that needs to be removed under the car. Two of the bolts are accessed at the bottom of the wheel well aft of the tire. The other two bolts can be accessed by removing the front two screws of the rocker molding. There is also a metal band around one of the pipes that is held in place with one screw.

Once the pipes and that metal band are removed you can lower the dryer enough to get the flexible hoses off from underneath. Then it drops out the bottom.
