Default So what do I need to get goin?

What do I need to program chips for my 86 ? Right now, I have a full version of TunerPro RT and an ALDL cable, and of course a laptop. Currently my 86 has a Hyperchip in it. Im planning on getting bigger injectors. My questions are

1. What burner equipment do I need?
2. Do I need any adapters for the ECM for chips?
3. Will I need a wideband O2 sensor installed?

help

You need a G2 chip adapter, some chips and a Burn2. Moates has all you need and you can download the software from his site. You also need the correct xdf file and a bin file to start with. Those are on Moates site too, I think. Wide band helps but not required.

Steep learning curve but time to study.

The computers (ECM ) are identified by the factory part #
ECM '165 refers to the #1227165 computer installed in '86 -'89 TPI cars ( Vette and F-bodies )
The ECM has a chip in it .
See
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/df...om-calpak.html

On the chip is the file ( the BIN ) that contains the information to run the engine. The BIN's are identified from the factory by a 4 letter code; ARAP mentioned is for a '89 Vette auto car.
Consider the $32 and $6E as the operating system ; just like you could have XP or Vista on your computer
Most ECM's will only operate with one particular system but the '165 ECM will work with both mentioned. The $6E is the later version with more features ( for tuning )

I had to actually do it, to understand it. It makes sense when you click on something and see the results. Just reading it leaves too much to the imagination. Try it.
