how to remove all emissions on a 1981 corvette.
I want to remove all of my emissions on my 1981 corvette. I’m replacing the exhaust with duel exhaust no cats, but want to remove all of the stuff from the engine bay to clean it up and make it look a lot better. Does any one know what stuff has to be removed and what needs to be done so there is not check engine light on? Are there any pictures online or has anyone already done the job and documented it for later? Please help.
Thank You

There is another thread on this same Forum by "Tnshark" wanting to do the exact same thing. Check out his thread and I will make the same offer to you if he decides not to take me up on the "parts swap".

I did my 81, replaced the carb and minifold with a edelbrock set up. the other problem you might have when disconect the computer and harness is the lock up solinoid. I put a switch grounding the test lead under the consol near the ash tray. I only switch it on on the highway. As for the light I took out the blub.

you can take the pump off .and plug the hoses.your egr can be blocked off .all these can be done with out having a problem and it can all be put back on .save all of it .

you should not have a problem.most cel come on when you have a problem with the 02 sensor or the tps.if you are still worried about the light ,take off one thing at a time .

I removed mine, just remember that there is a green wire in the ecu harness. This wire is the turn on for the AC compressor, you will need to run a new wire or pull the old one out, if your AC still works.
Without it you'll have no AC

Where do you run the green wire?
