Default Zylon Paint Treatment from Dealer

I was talking to someone at a dealership and they were raving about the Zylon paint treatment and its 5 year warranty.

They claim you dont have to wax or polish the car for 5 years.
They also treat the rims and interior.

What do you think???

Sounds to good to be true to me.

Many dealers have some extra treatment to separate you from your money. GM's paint is better than that.

bunch of turtle duty . if you think that the polymer coating that they want to put on is that good (it really isn't) you can buy a bottle of it yourself for $19.95 and put it on . you'll save the $300 to $600 that they want to charge you. nothing is THAT good. C6 GM clear is nearly bullet proof.

I just saw some super-elixir at another brand's dealer this weekend. It's positively astounding how they just keep coming up with new names, brochures and bottles. If you want to "treat" your paint in any form, everything is already discussed here on CF, or in most cases you can find it at your local auto parts store.

Get yourself a bucket full of warm car wash, a soft mitt, and give your new baby a nice sudsy bath followed by a blow-dry and a couple of coats of Zaino or Rejex. It's good for both you and your car.

It's 2010 and is absolutely mind-boggling that there are STILL dealers out there that peddle this worthless bullsh*t to their customers.

No offense to the OP, but I'm equally shocked that not everyone knows that this has been one of the most well-known dealer scams going for the last 30 years.

I'd like to see GM (or any manufacturer) lay down some basic code of ethics prohibiting dealers from running these tired old scams. Sadly, someone is clearly still buying this crap...

You have to admit the name "ZYLON" sounds pretty cool and well gosh it must be worth it because it sounds cool. Almost futuristic. Sadly after all is said and done, there just is not magic behind the curtain.

No product can protect an outdoor clear coat from scratches for five years. All the buyer gets is a short shine followed by five years of clear coat scratches.

There's a bozo in a straw hat around every corner.

I bought a 2002 Convertible off the lot. It had that years version of this rip-off. I was supposed to take the car back every six months for more "treatments." I was gullible, and did it once. Car looked better when I took care of it myself. STAY FAR CLEAR!! A super rip-off.

As others have mentioned, can't believe dealers are still trying to pull this crap.

This reminds me of the "undercoating" done in the 70's. Pure Nonsense.
