204.6 mph (so far) in a daily driven well optioned (AC and Nav.) TT C6 Z06

This was our second time at the Texas Mile and both times have been great fun.

As many, our goal was to surpass the 200 mph mark. For those of you that have tried, you share the trials and tribulations.

I am proud to say that with our second trip to the Texas Mile we not only met our goal but surpassed it with a 204.6mph official time. This was done on Friday mid morning. We unfortunately ran into some technical difficulties that did not allow us to increase our MPH conquest. Nothing major, just unable to address during the event.

A big thanks and congratulations are in order to Scott (the car’s owner), Jan, Cody, Louis, Nate and Randy for all the hard work that made this possible. Not to mention all of the great staff of the Texas Mile Team for a safe and beyond awesome weekend.

There are so many fellow auto enthusiasts that show up at the Texas Mile, it makes for a great weekend.

We look forward to increasing that MPH substantially next time.

Congrats man. I'd like to know alot more about setup as well. Power/boost/iat's(if possible)gear/trans. Got my own one mile project going as well,...soo any all all data is appreciated.

The boost was at 15 psi at the peak. The car has a RPM level 5 trans, stock rear end ratio, forged bottom end, ported heads, TTi/Xtreme turbo kit, LG coilovers and an upgraded fuel system.

Does Nate (one of the original proprietors) still work with/for you guys?

Also, how much power are you making at 15 PSI? I would imagine well over 900 RWHP. IF that is the case, then I cannot for the life of me figure out why your MPH is so low (given you were @ 15 PSI for that mile pass)? You should have easily been in the 220's... even a tick or two over 230 wouldn't surprise me unless you let out way early and/or had serious traction issues? (I mean absolutely no disrespect here - I'm just genuinely curious given only hitting 204 @ 15 PSI)

^ based off how much boost they were running, I am kind of perflexed as well. I figured he would respond with them running 8~10psi.

Nate has not been associated with Xtreme Motorsports for quite some time.

The peak boost was at 15 psi. It was an average of about 14psi. Our HP was in the mid 800's.
You would tend to think that higher mph would be achievable, yet the cars running in those 220-240 mph range are around 1200-1500hp maybe even more.
Even with that boost level there are many other factors to take in consideration like all of the tunning variables, head/tail wind, temp, etc.
There is a lot involved in reaching those higher MPH. If you have never attempted any of the mile challenges, I can understand how people can presume that the car should go those MPH. I sure thought the first time we went to the Texas Mile, we would be over 200. That was definately a wake up call for me. One of the most common comments that I hear is "it should easilly hit 200+." The biggest factor that those who have not attempted this yet is, these MPH's are reached from a stop to 1 mile. If there was more roadway or it was set up like the Bonneville time trials, we would be talking something different as far as MPH is concerned.
I am not sure of the total number of Corvettes that have surpassed the 200mph mark at the Texas mile, but it is probably not close to as many as those think.

As a new Houston resident with a 98 C5 TT, where is this event held and do they hold it more than once a year? Congrats on your entry to the 200+MPH Club.

I have a few questions for you...

What do you do for suspension setup or aero adjustments?
I have a 1999 FRC with PFADT coil overs and street sways..

How much do you drop the car, how much work have you had to do the aero of the car, tape up seams etc for this event?

I can make enought power with a TT LS7, but I have often wondered abotu the suspension and chassis setup.

Not much change to the ride height. The car sits much better with coilovers versus racing shocks. No front splitter. Tape on all seams. Taller tires for a little less gear down low. The Level 5 tranny has an internal gearing change that adjusts the final drive ratio to 3.90. So the tire change is important. And remember, those cars going 230 or more, are putting down lots more HP, or are AWD. We were probably close to 900rwhp. It was my choice to not push the timing and boost , so the crew at Xtreme kept things safe. Total timing was kept at 16 degrees which is very conservative. I drove the car around today, and it is like glass on the streets. no surging or bucking in any gear, whether coasting or under load, BUT, once your right foot gets heavy, it's a whole different ballgame.

Congrats 204 mph in a standing mile is a great acomplishment in a street car.

The event is held 2x a year in Goliad. If you look up the Texas Mile you can find directions to the location.
