NAPA Premium or Ultra premium brake rotors?
I am looking to purchase new front rotors for my vette. Does it make a difference if I get premium or Ultra premium brake rotors from Napa? If so, what is the difference?
Thanks

I would definatly get the ultra premiums if you are set on buying the rotors from Napa.

The Ultra Premiums were running me about $50 each with a government discount last year. Make sure the counter guy gives you the government discount. All they have to do is look it up on the computer and enter it into your invoice. It is a sizeable discount.

The NAPA store near me has discounts for many of the local governments stored in their computer. They just give me one of them. Last year they found one for a local government that was just across the state line (about 25 miles from me) that was a larger one than the one for the county where I live. A couple of clicks and I had the discount.

I've always run the napa rotors on the track. They were made in Canada, and were 30.00 a rotor. Never had any problems, until recently. As pointed out by John Shiels, they are now made in China. They now cost 46.00 a rotor and I now crack rotors at the track. Apparently they meet oem spec, but are not manufactured the same way. I do not know about the premium napa rotor you speak of though. (Thanks for the info John Shiels)

The Ultrapremium rotors from Canada and the Ultrapremium rotors from China crack at the same frequency. The only difference in materials between them is the Chinese ones have black paint around the hat and the fins. It usually burns off after a couple of sessions. Fronts seem to last about 2.5 to 3 days and the rears about 5. Last year I bought some and actually got one rotor that had been made in the US. It must have been sitting on some NAPA store's shelf for quite a few years. I had been buying the NAPA rotors since 2005 and that was the first one I had seen with a made in US label.
