Best Replacement Battery?
Just curious as to whether the GM replacement part is the best or if others have had success with other models. Thanks for the input..

You have several options. I went with the stock AC since mine failed before warranty was out (got a free one right before the 3 year warranty expired on the car). There is an interesting option of a lightweight battery, will save you over 15 pounds.

I have never gone with an Optima only because they weigh more than the stock battery. I typically just buy batteries that are easy to replace if I'm on a trip, Autozone, Checkers, Interstate, or an AC Delco.

Anybody have direct personal (non-anecodtal) experience with Costco batteries?
Have been thinking about one... $54 here in the SF Bay Area, 36 month replacement guarantee..

Retired & lovin' it!
I've used Costco (Kirkland) batteries in various cars for years & have had very good service from them Have not used one in my Vette, but may do that this Spring.

I HAVE USED BOTH AC DELCO & INTERSTATE, BOTH HAVE GOOD WARRANTIES. AC DELCO CAME OUT WITH A BETTER WARRANTY RECENTLY ON THE BATTERIES.
OPTIMA IS GOOD, IF YOU DON'T MIND THE POSTS ON TOP AND ON THE SIDE. I HAVE ONE IN MY TAHOE FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS NOW AND NO ISSUES. JUST HAVE TO KEEP IT CHARGED ALL THE TIME.
OVERALL, AC DELCO IS WHATS IN MY VETTES.

I just replaced the original battery in my '05 and it wasn't dead yet, I just thought it was time. I didn't want to get left dead on the road somewhere. I went with another Delco. I've never had problems over the years with Delco batteries. I have heard recently of many problems with the Optima batteries (no offence to those who have, and like, them). I was considering an Optima (basically just for the look), but when I heard of the problems, I decided to go with the old stand-by Delco.

I wouldn't put on in my vette, but I've used Kirkland brand battery before in my H2 and it worked just fine.

I went with the Optima Yellow Top (model 34) because its a "Deep Cycle" and I go to the track (Drags) and between runs I turn on the fan with the motor off to cool it down, and yes it is about 6-8 lb heavier than the stock battery, but I rather have the peace of mind knowing I won't get a dead battery after 4 or 5 runs.. (I run the fan app 15 min after a run)
I have a 100 mile drive home, so I'm pretty sure the battery gets fully charged on the trip home. I also have a battery tender that I use in the winter if I'm not going to use the car for 4 or 5 weeks...

According to cthusker here on the forum, Odyssey is a great battery and he has very good info about them. I would be looking at those as well.

Optima Yellow Top
I choose the deep cycle because they can take the constant recharging that I need.
