Replacement LoJack Battery for C6
Does anyone know where one can purchase a replacement battery for a LoJack unit? LoJack will not sell the battery. It requires a service visit by a LoJack technician. I perfer to just replace the battery myself. They recommend to replace the internal battery every 5 years.
Here is the information I have on the original LoJack "internal back up" battery:

Go to Motorola.com and go through "contact" or something and flat ask for that specific battery. Heck, they made it, they should know an outlet for it other than LoJack. I doubt it was made expressly for Lojack and has no other uses in the world.

I think that the LoJack unit recharges from the vehicle electrical system continuously, so that if the vehicle battery is disconnected, it can go on by itself for a while. If this is the case, then the battery is Lihium-Ion, not lithium. Lithium batteries are not rechargeable. It should say on it Li-ion if it is a rechargeable.

Wow..
I always thought that they hide the Lo-Jack, and the Battery, so that if the car is stolen, the theif does not know where the battery is, as he could disconnect it, and the car battery... hummmmm

Nope.
Thanks. I just did as you suggested. The reply e-mail said to allow 24 hours for a response. I hope they can help.
Nope.
Maybe, I am not sure the the battery recharges or not?
Yes, the module is hidden but I found it when diagnosing a parasitic current drain on my vehicle's battery.
Free for 2 years. Mine is close to 5 years old. LoJack wants to charge something like $79 for a service charge. I just want to replace the battery with a fresh battery.
Thanks guys for the suggestions. I hope Motorola will come through for me.

Were you able to find a replacement?
I'm in the same situation. Mine is 6 years old and I thought finding a replacement was going to be easy, but so far no luck.
Just a note: the battery says on its label just "lithium", not "lithium-ion"
Thanks.

No, I never found the correct battery. My battery label reads "lithium" also, but since it may recharge (?) from the vehicles B+, you would think it would be a lithium ion battery. I may have to make an appointment with LoJack and pay the $79 plus the cost of the battery.
I really just want a new battery.
If anyone knows of a place when I can buy a the correct battery, please advise. As stated above, Motorola no longer sells the battery.

If it has leads, can you just go buy any 6v lithium battery at the shack and cut / attach the leads to the new one? Could also go for a rechargeable one and wire it up with a compatible car charger.

By any chance, have you disassembled it?
It looks it's just two 3v cells connected in series and shrink-wrapped together as a unit. I can see through the wrapper that mine was made with 2 Panasonic batteries, but I can't read anything else. We would need to know the mAh rating and to confirm whether is lithium or lithium-ion.
Perhaps it doesn't recharge from the vehicle as we think and it is just a backup battery in case the car battery is disconnected.

If I could find one 6v the correct size, or two 3v batteries that I could but in series that would be the correct size, I would go for it.

That's interesting because some home phones have that shrink wrap around the battery "pack" that goes in the handsets. I doubt if they're the exact same, there are quite a few different "models" of batteries for phones. And they are rechargeable (whether they're Li-Ion or not I don't know).
This LoJack battery seems to be proprietary battery?
