Ecklers Has a tool looks like dipstick with a hook on the end . From the picture you stick it in along the outside edge of the reciver , hook the cable pull and twist the rod to open the hood . Now the hard part is that you have to do this on both sides , Release one side lift that side out of latch then go to the other side and repete. If you have a cataloge look under "hood acc" . Good luck Andy

I couldn't get that tool to work for me, all I did was scratch up the inside of my hood. That tool works better if you have x-ray vision.
I finally took my wheel and inner wheel fender off, and reached up with a chisel and released the latch.

if you need to open it and you can't,well,i'be been there, you have to have a skinny arm.-
Usually one side cable breaks only,so,take off the little fender, and let your arm inside, make a hook with a coat hanger, then locate the latch with your hand, once located,"hook the hook" to the latch guiding it with the "hand that knows where is the latch" and get your hands off there, stand and try to pull the latch to the center, you have to make it slide to the engine.-
I hope i explain myself, then, get some zip ties or emergency cables and try to open it with them until you get a new cable, btw when you get your cable dont forget to buy 2 new latch retainers !

I had that happen to me last week. I wound up pulling the cables under the dash with a pair of vise grips and the hood opened. Then I installed a set of emergency cables so it wouldn't happen again.

Go get 2 steel leaders that you use for fishing, with swivels on the end. It looks like safety pin on one end, clipe it to the latch and run the other end out. $2 fix if you need it

A 10mm open end wrench will get the hidden bolt. Wrap a thin piece of tape on it if you don't want to scratch anything. My Craftsman normal wrench works so you should not need a thin wrench.

Thanks
I tried that and it wouldnt work
There was not enough room. Thank god it was already rigged up so we went in through the top of the hood and got a wire around the rigged wire and pulled it came right open. Now on to the next messed up thing. I'm sure to be back.
