that would be based on EACH LOCAL stations.

Stations that do NOT put ethanol in their fuel tend to have a sign out that says

"No ethanol added" or

signs like this

Shell gas here is 100% gasoline. I've heard too that the Miejer gas has no alchohol. I test the Shell fuel periodically because I run Shell gas in my airplane and it's got to be all gasoline or the fuel system can be damaged (ask me how I know this)

Nevermind that, read the sign. "Eat here, get real gas."

Oh the word "Oxygenated" might mean Ethonal added

Shell V power was on the the first to use Oxygenated fuels.

I stick with off brand low price high volume fuels. Hess and Sheetz

Shell's big new thing is Nitrogen enriched fuels. Not sure if that is just a PR thing or the next big thing.

Here in Northern Nevada all stations use ethanol added into the fuel from November-March, Been that way for years, I would be willing to bet that a lot of other states also add it in the winter months and you don't even know it, Haven't noticed any ill efects other than a slight drop in mileage and maybe an off smell.

The reason I asked about Shell is that I filled up near my parents home, and the sticker on the pump said "The regular grade of the product contains 10% Ethhanol"

However the shel 40 miles away near my home says "these products contain..." and does not specify which grade, I read it to imply all grades.

Plus I wish I knew where to get 100 octane real gas around here, perhaps the small local airport. I have never seen it in metro Atlanta.
Anyone know a place around here??

Thanks, and I will be eating at the place that will give me gas

I wish I knew where there was a good non-alcoholed gas here in Florida, too. No hijack intended but not too long ago (in Florida) there was a fortune spent on replacing all the steel below-ground gas station tanks with fiberglass tanks. My understanding is that alcohol ruins fiberglass tanks. In boats there's lawsuits over it. So, now I see that they're out digging up all the new gas station fiberglass tanks. I wonder what they're going to replace them with this time... guess who gets to pay for all this?

It's a law in OKklahoma that if the gasoline has ethanol they have to put it on the pump.

Here in the St.Louis metro and metro east(Illinois side of the Mississippi) ALL stations (as far as I've been able to find) have 10% in all grades. Even the Shell stations have that sticker 10% in all grades! Wish I could find "REAL" gas around here as well!! At least here premium is still 93 octane!!!

ethanol adds octane....but has a lower energy density than gasoline....so gas with ethanol added will have higher octane but you'll use more of it.

I only ever used the stuff once....and it caused my gas gauge to malfunction, 2 tanks for Petro-Can premium later, all was well.

In a number of states 10% Ethanol is mandated by law as a way to reduce air pollution. Been that way ever since 2006 when they decided to remove MTBE (used as an oxygenate) from gas because it caused water pollution and replace it with ethanol. That is one of the reasons we had a spike in fuel prices a few years ago. When the mandate became the rule in the middle of the year there wasn't enough ethanol available and the price rose thus driving up gas prices.

From Wikipedia:
Recent state laws have been passed to ban MTBE in certain areas. California and New York, which together accounted for 40% of U.S. MTBE consumption, banned the chemical starting January 1, 2004, and as of September 2005, twenty-five states had signed legislation banning MTBE.

same here in florida. the signs all say "may contain up to 10% ethanol" you can count on the fact that it contains at least that 10%, LOL

It slowly eats away at the rubber components. In Indiana BP (was AMOCO) switched to 10% ethanol several years ago (not posted on the pumps) - totally destroyed a fuel line and contaminated a good part of the fuel system.
