Default Rebuild Power Seat Switch?

I beleive that the passanger side power seat switch is not working on my 1998 Vette with sport seats.
Does anyone know if it possible to rebuild, and/or clean the contacts in the switch unit?

Thanks for the interest and help. The specific problem that I am having is that the switch that makes the seat go forward and up, works only sometimes if you jiggle it back and forth, I think that the contacts in the switch are bad. I put direct power to the motors and all of the motors worked perfect.

OK, I posted the wrong info for this thread.

If it were me I would try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts. I just cleaned the contacts in a multifunction switch, i can't imagine it being more involved than it. Let us know how it works out.

Is the switch housing screwed together or does have to be cut open?

Not sure, even though I've had one in my hand 2 different times. Just didn't pay enough attention to it. I would guess it is not glued together. Probably clips or screws, or maybe both. Sorry! Someone will probably jump in and let you know.

Worth a shot I guess. New switch:

12135159 $148.85

12135158 $107.69 with lumbar

That's forum price, not list price.

I had to replace switch on my passenger seat. You cant repair them, case is molded you have to gut it open to get to the guts. Pretty simple job. Call Gene he has the best deals on switches.

Don't mean to hijack. I have a dead power driver seat on my Z06. Its either the switch or the whole adjuster(motor assembly.) How does one connect direct power to the seat motors to see if they work? I need to know if I need to order a whole new adjuster assembly $$$$ ( expensive) or just a new switch $.( cheap)

First, remove the seat. Yeah, yeah I know ...but it's still the best way to access the motor(s). Each motor has a pair of leads coming out of it and they go to a connector. Unplug the connector for the particular motor you want to check and put your power/ground on the two leads. BTW, reversing the leads reverses the direction of the motor.

OR, buy a set of used sport seats that have full working electronics. I've got a set for sale here.

Do you really spend your time needlessly checking and criticizing other peoples posts? I am well aware of the dates on the thread!

Good luck finding a cheap seat switch.
On a happier note call Vettetronics at 719-548-1023; they repair/refurbish them. Or you can find Vettetronics on Ebay.
Last I checked $99.00 send in your old one and they'll fix it for you.

If anyone is interested in this, the repair is very simple with a little bit of time and basic soldering equipment. Most of the time with the boards corrosion makes it through the trace protection (green stuff coating all the traces on the board) and disrupts the trace. I fixed mine by scratching the protectant off right in front and behind where the corrosion or broken point is, all the while being careful not to break the trace, then using a voltmeter check the continuity from the point you scratched off to the corresponding pin on the board, and solder joint. If its good, solder a small guage wire to bypass the corroded spot, then check for continuity again. My description may be really bad, I'll post pictures of mine when I get home for anyone interested.

I am the owner of Vettetronics Inc. in Colorado at the above listed phone number. We do not repair C4, C5, C6, ect electronic components. Never Have. Been in Business since 1985. I believe there is some one with a similar EBay screen name that is doing these repairs. My company has no affiliation with those people.
