How many 'vettes still on the road?
I have a 1980 Corvette, and I know that there were 40 some-odd thousand made that year, but is there any way to find out how many of a certain year 'vette are still on the road?

It would be nice to know but will probably always be just a guess. What makes it even tougher is the fact my 71 and I'm sure thousands more are REGISTERED as " CHEV 2 H ", ....Chevrolet 2 Door Hardtop.
So in Maryland you'd need the VIN number too.

The answer is no. In my case there were 5,474 convertibles produced in 1974. A very small production run. How would anyone know how many are left? I can only guess given accidents, write-offs, barn/yard-rots, etc. that the number is about 2,000 in decent condition. Pretty rare if not desired car. And in today's economic climate if I were thinking of selling, it really has no market value. So I'll keep it just to enjoy.

The recovered seats look really good and have sure changed the look of your interior.
What's the situation with your footwell liners... I think I see just one?

I had to modify it. The day that pic was taken I was at a show; first after weatherboot installation. When I started the car that morning I discovered That I could not drive without having my size 13s on both the gas and brake pedals at the same time. The console trim and the upper curled lip of the boot pushed it too far to the left. So you don't see the boot in the pic. With later C3s that console trim is not present and is not a problem. (I wish manufacturers would have footnotes on promos for products needing this type of work.) You can see the problem in this pic.
After that show I modified the boot. This pic was half-way through the process. I subsequently removed the lip on the right-side-top as well.
Now the boot sits behind the console trim. Kind of Bubba but it works. I still get virtually full carpet protection.
Compare this "after" to the above "before." (I see some carpet adjustment is on the agenda for this afternoon.)

Of all the C3s ever made, from '68 to '82, I rarely see any on the road. If they are so plentiful, people don't drive 'em much.

In the Tampa Bay area, I rarely see any C3's. Only a few people know I even own a '71 and I've owned it for 33 years. I guess it spends way too much time in the garage.

1953-1955- None...the survivors are trailer potatoes.
1956-1962 15 the rest are projects and trailer potaoes.
1963-1966 1000, but 970 have flared fenders and 67 BB hoods. The rest are trailer potatoes.
1967 327/300hp base model cars. None. All converted to 427/435 M21 trailer potatos.
1967 427 BB 500. All top flight cars.
1968-1982 fifty percent. Not to many potatoes yet.
1984-1989 twenty percent...the years were hard on these...remember the cease fire 84's...and that poor red paint!
1990 - 1994 fifty percent...but they are going into hiding these days...saddled with costing more than they are worth, owners are cocooning the projects of 2020...more on these later. These cars now have garage fires with the 84-89's as their top cause of mortality...
2005 on....who cares!

So Paul how many 69 convertibles do you "guess" are still alive?
As far as investment goes while I care Zero I learned a bitter weird truth my old kit car I just sold was far better "investment" than a c3 as the kit car basically doubled in price in about 3 years....

Looks like California, Florida, and Texas is the place to look! But this is just registered cars ( date unknown as mentioned).... and doesn`t include the many others like mine.... still in construction.

My '72 vert was an old show car, I bought in '95, it was primarily garage queen, totally custom, but stock mechanically L48 4 speed,
over the last two decades, lets just say there is totally, absolutely NOTHING stock on this car, not nuttin' honey.....
So it leaves Florida and goes to California to my son/grandson when I kick....fits right in with the local car shows my son goes to.....
he has a '57 chebby pickup with a LS engine in it, disc brakes suspension upgrades, wheels tires, eh, you know the drill.....
look at my sig file links for pix.....
