Interior light won't turn off

Interior light won't turn off
The two overhead dome lights in the bottom of the rear view mirror won't turn off. I can't find anything in the manual about it. The car is off right now with the lights still on. I'm concerned it's gonna drain the battery. Any ideas?

You probably hit the dimming switch to the right of the steering wheel.
It also turns on the two rear view mirror lights
I sometimes do the same thing when cleaning the interior.

As indicated above, you've pressed the dash dimmer switch.

Courtesy Lamps
When any door or the hatch/trunk lid is opened, the
interior lamps will go on unless it is bright outside.
You can also turn the courtesy lamps on and off
by pressing the instrument panel brightness ****.

Get inside... close both door (completely) and the rear hatch... press the **** one time and check lights by holding you hand under the mirror... if you pressed the **** with a door open the light will of course stay on...

This has got to be the stupidest design for a switch that I've ever seen. Other than testing the interior lights after they should be off, there's no way of knowing if the switch is engaged or not.
With all the little improvements and refinements that have been made to the car since 2005, I would have thought this one annoying little button would have been history by now. For 2009, it's exactly the same.
I think if someone offered an aftermarket replacement for the dimmer/interior light switch they'd sell out overnight.

When I bought mine and drove 4 1/2 hrs. back from Atlanta, I didn't notice mine were on untill the next day. Also couldn't figure it out until I too got forum help. Thankfully, it must take more than that to run down the battery.

year after year the same complaint, would it really cost that much to change the design or location?

Dimmer Switch
This happened on my 05. Push the dimmer switch to turn them off, push it again to turn them on. There is no LED feedback on the dimmer switch, so if the lights stay on, it got pushed. Of course, you need to be in the car with the doors closed.
