Default Alto reds or Raybestos Z-Pack

Buying parts for my tranny rebuild and need advice on what brand of 3-4 clutches to buy. Alto reds or the Raybestos Z-pack. Pros and cons.
Thanks!
(Wish we had a transmission section on the CF!)

If 500 hp or less, either will be fine.

I used the reds in mine, although for other reasons it never quite ran right which forced a transition to the ZF6

Be carefull in your tool selection for removing those pesky snap rings..they're a pita with extra hot sauce.

Default Im a fan of Z Packs

Im running the Z pack in my rebuild. Very happy with it. It seems to grab solidly with WOT shifts. I dont know if that is normal for all nwe clutch packs. I guess I will find out.

Hey Pete K. . . . Z pack is only good for 500hp or less? What would one use for a higher horsepower engine. Im figuring that if you have 500hp+ and you ride it hard, no clutch pack is going to last 100k.

I just meant that 500hp or less would not hurt either. Sorry for the confusion.

Since either clutch pack is good, what other components could you install. . . or mods you can make....to make the 3/4 pack last longer.

I left the 6 assist springs out of the input drum per raybestos' instructions.

I really didn't see anything else you could do to make the 3/4 pack work even better.

Pete K? any suggestions......I heard ur da man.

Pete K told me the 3 weakest parts of the 4L60E are the Reaction Shell, the Pump washers, and the 3-4 clutches. I am going to buy a Beast shell, looks like TransGo has a set of hardened Pump washers, but I was just confused on the clutches as Raybestos touts their "One sided clutches with less coning"
When I drag race I put it in D rather than OD and go throught the traps around 3500-4000 rpms, so maybe the 3-4 clutch selection is not that big of a deal....I am not that wise when it comes to transmissions. Pete Kane is Da Man!
