interpreting the chips
does anybody have a list of the factory markings on the chips?
The one I have is marked on the blue shell "Delco ASHZ 4648"
then on the chip itself is T665 then repeated T665.
then the chip(prom) next to it is marked "3T0110".
I think it is out of an 89 L98 with an auto, but how do I tell?
Also, will an 89 auto work in an 86 auto? I think all it will do is reprogram the cold fuel to eliminate the cold start valve. Right?
then it ignores the cold start temp sensor?

ASHZ appears to be a 1990 Buick Regal 3.8 liter BCC.
I found this (incomplete) list:

If you can, reading them would still be a good idea.

BCC for that year Vette are something like AR??
(ARAP is a popular starting code with tuners)
If you get a original '89 memcal then the program is setup for no 9th /cold start injector.Gives more fuel at startup to compensate for no CSI.

chip
ok, my other chip is an arap 4194, and it came out of a 4+3 86 corvette. I tried it in my auto car when I got the replacement computer, and there was no torque converter lockup, and the up shift light was on all the time.
The ASHZ chip was in a replacement computer I got from a corvette wrecking yard. When I couldn't get the engine to run, I changed the memcal and voila!
The last one I have is ABWN 1606 and then 8654. I can't find that one on any chart.

ABWN is an 87 f-body 5.7 auto 3.27 bcc.

Note: You can have any of these memcals erased (U/V eraser) and reprogrammed with the appropriate bin file as needed (using an eprom programmer and adaptor) .

Possibly reprogrammed for the manual as the TCC function of the ARAP should have worked .
As stated above can get any one of them reprogrammed to suit your needs.
Can do all the other mods at same time; lower fan start , VATS / EGR delete / change TCC lockup settings.

This might help you, I have a 1989 that scans as a 1986 using a Actron scanner. I have not removed my ECM yet to check numbers or codes to see just exactly what I have. But from what I can tell it does seem like I do have at least a 86 PROM in mine and it runs just fine. I have had the car for 10 years with only issue being a little stuborn on cold starts. You are correct, only difference in 86 to 89 is the 86 had 9th injectot for cold start. I am still looking for a stock replacement PROM for mine. Good luck with youres.
