Broken valve spring?

You will find out when you pull the valve covers.

#4 cylinder broken intake valve spring. The valve is bent as far as I can tell .Hoping the piston isnt damaged . Where do I get the parts to fix this ? Gaskets valve springs best cost and quality stuff . I got to drive this car 6 times before this happend .Gonna fix it myself make it feel more like mine.

comp cams can set you up with some 918 beehive springs, and the dealer should be able to get you a new valve.

Gene at gmpartshouse should be able to help you get what you need.

Chris May at Superior Chevy in Kansas.

Hope your motor is ok.

Just for our info, what month/yr was your car made? I've noticed that cars made in Calendar year 2002 seem to be most affected.

I would get some PRC dual valve springs from Texas Speed instead of the 918 singles that have had a lot of probels as of late. Also go with GM gaskets and bolts when putting the heads back on. Good luck, and get her fixed!

Will those springs fit without machining pockets to accept them in the head?

I heard about the 26918 issues and went with a stock GM spring, same as the LS2, made recently (2007). The p/n changed in 2004. My theory is still that they had a bad run in calendar year 2002 and made a change.

The 2004 cars have had more than enough time now to accumulate more miles then the 2003's did back in early 2006 when I started noticing these threads (well, that was the first time I looked). If the cam is just too big for GM's springs, I would expect to see 2004's with this posting once and a while but I don't. I've never seen a single one.

How many '03 ZO6's have this problem? I mean is it something I should be expecting to happen? Mine hasn't even turned 20k miles yet. But this is concerning.

Mine doesn't even have 6k miles, but I have put so much in the motor that I am replacing the springs regardless.
