Default 1980 L82 For Sale

Ok first let me say thank you for allowing me onto your site.

I'm not here to spam out your site but only to let anyone interested know that my L82 is for sale and it will be part of the activities that are scheduled on the Lex Sept. 15th. I didn't want to put anykind of For Sale sign on it while there but rather let everyone know via this way that it will be there for anyone interested to view. Now for some but not all of the details.

Link to Craigslist where I've got it listed: http://houston.craigslist.org/car/403040122.html

CORVETTE 1980 L82 - $10000 (Baytown)

This 1980 L82 Corvette has been my pride and joy since February 1, 2006. It had 40,000 miles on it that day, and it just turned over to 53,000 miles a few weeks ago. I am selling it because for my upcoming 18th anniversary, my wife is buying me a brand new 2008 Lotus, and unfortunately, I only have one garage spot for one toy, so this one’s (sadly) got to go. The 53K miles is original! The corvette was kept in storage for 19 years.

Just before I purchased the car, the following work had been done:
• All 4 corners had new bearings installed
• New belts (all)
• New (not rebuilt) GM A/C compressor
• New water pump
• New radiator
• New upper and lower radiator hoses

Since I have had the car, I have done most all of the following myself. All of this work has been done with extreme care and attention to detail, with the additional objective of keeping the car in as close to stock condition as reasonably possible. GM and AC Delco parts were used in many applications for which they were available:

Interior:
• New speaker & amp wireing ran while carpet was out.
• New reproduction Full carpet package & floor mats
• New Black Okley seat covers Made especially for the C3 seats
• New reproduction center A/C outlets (both) with new foam seals
• New reproduction A/C / Heater control assembly
• New reproduction passenger door window regulator with new replacement track rollers
• New reproduction driver’s door window regulator with new replacement track rollers
• New Heat sheild/sound dampning padding
• New wiper switch

Exterior:
• New GM front rubber spoilers/air dams
• New reproduction wheel center caps with emblems and beauty rings
• New reproduction chrome lug nuts
• New BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires new valve stems (all four)
• New windshield
• New Front and Rear emblems

Underhood:
• New AC Delco distributor cap
• New AC Delco distributor rotor
• New everything dealing with the vacuum operated head lights..valves, actuators, springs and lines.
• New AC Delco PCV valve
• New hood insulation for a '79. The '80 model did not come with it but the paint always burns on the '80 model so I installed the factory spec from a '79.
• New AC Delco A.I.R. check valves (two)
• Replacement master cylinder
• New reproduction A-arm rubber dust seals
• New motor mounts
• New premium valve cover gaskets
• New under hood light assy.

Undercar:
• Removed the fuel tank and had it refurbished.
• Replaced all differential seals.
• New AC Delco fuel filter
• New rear stabilizer bar end links
• New rear 1" upgraded sway brace
• New rear touring spring
• New rear suspension hardware..ie. Bolts, nuts, bushings…etc
• New front stabilizer bar end links
• Stainless steel sleeved rebuilt brake calipers (all four)
• New brake pads (front and rear)
• New front upper and lower ball joints
• New front tie rod ends on everything
• Brake fluid change
• New rear suspension strut rods
• Rear differential oil change (including the GM recommended limited slip additive)
• New gas-charged shocks (all four)
• New steering actuator
• New rear exhaust stainless steel “Y” pipe
• New mufflers (Flowmaster dual chambers, with welded-on tailpipes)
• New rear muffler hangers
• New F1 550lbs front springs for a 1" lower than stock drop.

As you can see, most of the items that usually need to be addressed on these cars have been taken care of. The car runs well, and is rock-solid reliable.

Other items that go with the car:
• New owner’s manual (reprint)
• GM factory service manual (new Helm reprint)
• GM assembly manual (Corvette Central reprint)
• Original T-top storage bags
• After market padded T-top storage bag
• I saved virtually every part I removed from the car that I was replacing with a new item; all of these old/original parts go with the car

Other points of interest:
• Clean Carfax
• As of Sept. 15 2007 this car will be the only 1980 corvette to be in the world record breaking event of having 300 corvettes on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.
• I have kept virtually every piece of paper related to the car and the work done to it (including receipts for all parts installed) since I have owned it. All go with the car.
• I also have some other miscellaneous “paper items” related to the car that also go with it

If you’re looking to buy a latter production third-generation Corvette (especially an ’80), you will not be disappointed with this car.

The asking price of $10,000.00 is below what I have in the car (my original purchase price plus what I have spent to do everything I’ve done to it) and consistent with what the current price guides list as market value for these cars in this particular condition.

Please call 832-414-4395 with questions, if you would like me to e-mail the pictures directly to you, or to arrange an appointment to see the car and give it a test drive. Thank You!

It was hard to see the car in those last few pictures. It looks like a nice car for the money. Good luck.

No it's the factory 230hp but once the car was taken out of storage it was found that the motor needed to be gone thru. So at that time they installed after market forged pistons, heads, x-rods and a mild cam. I'm not sure what hp it's putting out now but it's a tad over 230.
