Tornado just hit Carlisile fairgrounds.
I just got back home. It's about 7.45 PM. My buddy that is still there just called and said a tornado just went though the fair grounds. It took down the tent where all the 57"s are parked. It sounds like there is alot of damage. There are rescue crews there right now. I don't know if anyone was hurt but it sounds like there are alot of cars damaged. If anyone gets details please post. Brian G.

Keep us posted if you receive further information. I left my cargo trailer parked net to BarryK's 65 Coupe. Hope all is well there and there are no serious injuries to people or vehicles.
I am at the Quality Inn in Mechanicsburg. Got my 67 covered just as the storm hit. The wind was so strong it almost pulled the cover off my car.

I have not heard back yet if it was a tornado or just very strong winds. When Bob called me he said they where calling it a tornado. I do know he said he was walking around the fairgrounds and there seamed to be alot of damage. Barryk's car was not parked that far way from the special collection tent. I saw his car during the day but nobody was sitting there when I was there. If I get anymore news I will post it.

There's a thread in C6 gen:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1795593
From the description of one of the people there, it sounds like one fatality and "many Vettes of all generations destroyed, as well as a lot of property and product destruction"

I was there picking up my regular car, I tool my 67 home about 3 thinking it would rain on Sunday, as soon as I got in the parking lot where the Army trucks are, it started hailing and gusting winds and pouring. It looked like the Wizzard of Oz. The grounds were locked at that end but tents were all over the place and you could see stuff just flying everywhere. When I got down to the Sheetz station, Fire and Ambulance were passing me going towards the fairgrounds.I did see alot of booths flipped around. I am sure there was some damage. I hope everyone is OK and not alot of loss.

I saw it up close and personal. What a mess. I made it through with no damage, others were not so lucky. It could have been a whole lot worse if it was an hour or two earlier when the fairgrounds was still crowded. It hit right as the parade was going on.
The whole tent collapsed on the '57's but damage looked minimal. With the tent still on them.

Bob looked for you before I left about 3:00, nice talking to you, glad you and your car are OK.
Someone said one person died hope it's not true, cars can be fixed.
See you tomorrow maybe.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Duntov-097. It now appears initial reports of a fatality may be false. Prayers that is the case.

This is horrible. So sad seeing all the devastation. My prayers for anyone injured and hope that those whose property was damaged can recover.

Thanks for the pics - what a freakin' mess. We were having dinner in Harrisburg when the storm came through but it was a non-event where we were - obviousy Carlisle got the worst of it. The 11:00 news didn't mention any deaths thank God. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you Bob but glad you got out of everything OK.
