APS Twin Turbo
Has anyone installed the APS Twin Turbo setup on a stock bottom C6. I am looking into this but was curious if anyone has and their opinion/results of the install. I have an 05 MN6 stock.

If your goal is to have a TT, then APS is the best on the market. If your goal is ~500whp give or take, then you can probably get there with a header, head / cam / underpulley upgrade. Anything over 500rwhp is going to cost you. Clutch, rear end, forged motor, etc.
The problem is knowing were to stop. When the engine is comes out, you may as well go with a stroker, then you need to port the heads to support the airflow demand, then you need to increase fuel flow, etc., etc.

i have one on my car and kind of wish i would have waited to see how the ttix kit works out.the kit is nice but in the future i want to forge my motor and so far it looks like i would not even be able to break 700 rwhp.i would wait if i was you, because tti has their kit out now and about to show some numbers.i know some people will disagree, but its just a personal opinion and the kit does work good i just wish it show the numbers that other kits get.oh and my car made 551 rwhp and 564 rwtq with 9 to 10 pounds and 3 inch exhaust.

If you want to go forged with a bigger engine, I would wait for the C6Z kit. A 427 with 14-16 psi should make ~800rwhp easy. that is my plan unless I get a good deal on a super charger. I prefer to do my work, but the TT will be more than I want to take on. The TT is about twice as expensive at that level as is the installation.

I installed the APS system myself on my stock 2005 C6 coupe and I'm happy with the results. I installed it myself, and I tuned it myself, and I learned a lot about tuning. It dynos around 510rwhp with 8psi or 550 with 9psi. I have been keeping it around 8psi, since thats plenty of power, and I want it to stay healthy. Maybe I'm overly cautious, I don't know. I have stock everything on my car including the exhaust, and I installed Magnaflow cats on it. Anyway, you can see pictures and a blog of my installation here, its a fairly difficult install:

[QUOTE=turbo_tom;1561445827]I guess the fact that the kit has two, 500 HP supportave Garrett turbos is BS then...?
1000 flywheel HP = ~850 RWHP (15% drivetrain loss)
???[/QUOTE , pretty much so far it is,unless you can show me a 850 rwhp car or even a 750.for a stock motor APS is good, but if you want big power i would wait. if the kit can break 700,800,or even 850 i would think that RICHARD (brabus2) would have already done it.he will eventually but it wont be without spending more money because he will have to change something on the kit.im not trying to be negative, but i wish i would have known this from the get go because i plan on building my motor one day and as of right now it doesnt look to good for us that have the APS kit.

I believe that on a stock motor, the APS kit is probably only "SAFELY" good for maybe 550rwhp unless you alcohol inject it, but even with alcohol injection, I don't think you'd want to boost it much more than 600rwhp or so. The stock engine has an 11:1 compression ratio, and tends to knock at the torque peak of around 4400rpm with the turbos. You can richen the mixture to try to calm it down, but depending on air temps, you probably can't go much above these levels without risk of damage. Namely ring breakage, or valve float.
If, however, you put stronger internals in the motor (forged bottom end with a slightly lower compression ratio), you can run a bunch more boost. Even doing that, you'll probably still require a different cam along with stiffer stronger valve springs, and a 3 inch exhaust to get to 850rwhp safely with the APS kit. I'm not saying you can't get there, but how long will it last without the above mentioned upgrades? I don't know.
Just what I've heard from folks around here.

Shaun, yes it's been an uphill battle in finding a way to carry and hold boost beyond 4500rpms, if it could hold til redline, 700 would be cake on the HP side, TQ is not an issue. I'm reluctant to tweak the kit with CHRA upgrades, compressor housing machining, manifold porting and such...I like the spool characteristics of these turbos and any of you APS owners will agree this kit is a street demon!

richard it sounds like it has been a battle and I personally think that APS should be more help to you. APS should make and give you a set a external wastegates or something to solve the problem.because when i forge my motor i am going to want to see some huge numbers for all the money that we spent.you shouldnt have to upgrade the CHRA when their website says the system will do 1000 hp.i know ihn the c5 section APS bought a car to prove their kit,but it seems like the kit that has the most dought is the c6.im praying to see some good numbers on a built stock cube motor.anyway you are a better person than me because if i was having the problems you were having holding the boost i would not be talking so good about the kit like you are.but thats just me. but like you said it is a good street kit just not so sure about the 1000 horsepower till i see it,which i hope that it can because im getting BORED of the 550 rwhp.
