8 throttle body cross flow intake
hello there fellow vetters,
i saw a company that makes and sells a 8 throttle body cross flow intake.

cost is $3,300 aus dollars.
alot of money,so it would want to be good!
i spoke to one guy there in Australia ( boshvette) and he said he has tried the super ram, mini ram and said that this 8 t/b kicks a*rse over all them.
has any one seen this type of intake before?
what do you think of it?
i wander if it provides all round performance or just high rpm,s?
i would of thought that a throttle body for each cylinder could be a ideal intake as far as performance is concerned.

If youre in N.Z. why are you talking in AU dollars? $3,300 sounds bloody expensive for an intake manifold, it would want to be bloody good for those dollars.... Are you planing on sitting this thing on 6,000 rpm all day?

no my car is red but not a zo7 model unfortunetly ( i wish it was) and if you must know my interior is black.
im talking Australian dollars as the intake is in Australia,not in new zealand.
the intake you buy from company in queensland-Australia.
so why the H*ell would i say n.z dollars when you buy it from Australia.
are you for real.....
and no im not planning sitting on 6,000 rpm actually, but it does have fairly long trumpets, so the higher rpms shouldnt be that bad.
any way to the other guys,

looks like their trying to re coupe the cost of r&d from the first manifold they sell .i don't think anyone in their right mind has bought this headache yet .i bet you this is the only intake you will buy and feel like you just got a prostate exam,you know what i mean

apparently the guy in Australia i spoke to said that all the group A 600 plus hp touring car Holdens and fords in Australia run this type of 8 throttle body intake.
he also said he has gained 50 hp rite across the board in all rev ranges from his dyno out put reading recently.
he said that he has tried the mini ram and super ram and this 8 t/b intake would eat both of them alive.
it runs a 1205 base gasket size and you can use pre oiled uni filter socks as filters for it.
also he said that you need to buy a small cap dist as well.
just a thought any way, i thought some of you might be interested to know that its avaialble.

i just looked at it again and for $3300 for a intake that sucks in under hood heat and does not even come with injectors . im calling this guy out put out some dyno numbers maybe on video.i find it very hard to believe it beats a m/r intake i might be wrong but for $3300 i think this guy is laughing all the way to the bank .if it really makes 50 hp more than any other tpi intake then prove it .that for sure will help sales.i love the way it looks its a nice peace but not worth that much money in my opinion ,maybe half if that .

etown, a prominent fellow Edmontonian has a similar system on
a street car that is nearing completion or has just been completed.
The Katicore intake is a fuel injection version of the venerable
individual runner (IR) cross-ram style manifold.
This type of intake has been used on small block Chevys, Fords
and other american V8's at least as far back as the L-50's/E-'60s when
the intakes appeared with IDA side-draft Weber carburettors mounted
on them.
The carburetted intakes systems continue to be available
Moon Eyes which has its roots in the company started by Dick
Moon in the '50s IIRC, offers a version of the SBC cross Ram.
Moon Intake
TWM Induction apparently offers a version based on the Moon intake
I anticipate that the IR-style intake raises some challanges as far as
providing ways of measuring air flow and determining manifold vacuum.
The local intake mentioned above was disassembled when I saw it - my
recollection is that it is laid out somewhat differently than the
Moon/TWM shown here. Engine management may need something
more advanced than the bank-to-bank setup employed for the OEM
L98 TPI
However, the basic IR design is proven. A quick look at the overhead
photo of the TWM and you can see that the butterflies are positioned
to give a runner length of approximately 9-11": a length that is inbetween
the HSR and the SR. Plenums for Helmholtz resonance tuning can be
bought or fabricated. Providing cool air is not a show-stopper.

The wings are the fuel rails.
Although the esthetics of their placement above the runners may
not suit everyone's taste, this location permits the injectors to be
positioned so that they spray down the throat of the runner.
The injectors on the Katicore appear to aim into the runners at 90º
.

hello all,
i was told my intake was the centre of discussion on this forum so i thought i would join in.
this intake is clearly better than the miniram and super ram,due to the fact that it doesnt have the age old problem of leaning out the back 4 cylinders that all plenium systems have where the front 4 cylinders take all the good air and the back cylinders starve for air.the other problem you have with a plenium system is that the throttle body is not central to all the cylinders meaning each runner length is different,so you basically have to tune the car to the worst performing cylinders(obviously the back ones)which means you are not getting a full balanced tune resulting in a large horsepower drop from plenium style intakes(TPI/miniram/super ram)

one advantage of this system is that it is all cnc machined meaning that there is no balancing of air flow or fuel delivery meaning each cylinder gets exactly the right air/fuel ratio resulting in the perfect tune.
it is also one of the easiest to install and connect i changed the whole setup in one day including the computer (haltech E6GMX it plugs into factory loom)it is so easy any idiot could do it.

i do agree that it is expensive but i can now blow C6 ZO6's away and it looks trick.the car now does 11.2 on street tyres down the 1/4 mile @125mph not bad for a manual that is more set up for circuit racing not drags.the car now has 450rwhp which was a increase of about 50rwhp right through the rev range and the throttle response is crisp.i have now run the super ram and miniram on this 383 and the new system blows them away.

Well mate your car looks very nice i agree, but where do the air cleaners go?
Can you take this thing out on public roads here in Australia that tend to get rather dirty and dusty at times and expect that the engine internals are going to stay safe from contamination?
