Record failure for oil pressure unit?
Well, maybe I finally set a record. A dubious one. I changed the oil pressure sending unit yesterday. Drove 25 miles, all was well, parked car. Started car this morning; right back at 130 PSI. Sheesh.
I sure am glad I used the "cut the access hole" method.

Well, at least it will be replaced for free under warranty! My 1st replacement failed after only a couple months, the only consolation was at least it was free to replace, just my time was unreplaceable.

Thanks for the kind thought, but maybe not. I let it sit around here for at least two months before I put it in, so it might be out of warranty, depending on how long the warranty is.

REMOVE WIPERS (14mm socket, pull washer hose off too)
REMOVE TRAY (5 plastic rivets. Pull center up, then pull rivet out) Lay upside down ontop of motor.
This is the underneath tray
I cut on an angle so that I can put the plastic piece back on.. sort of like a carving a pumpkin top.
There's the little devil right there. (sorry for the bad pic, but you get the idea)
Using the 1-1/16 deep socket and a long extension, r/r the sensor. This is the new one installed. I used about 2 turns of tape also and didn't over tighten. Just snug it up and when complete, start the car and make sure it doesn't leak.
I used some duct tape and replaced the plastic piece. Looks ugly but you can't see it when the top plastic is put back.
I used a dremel tool instead of the drill....

It should be at least a year's warranty. My GM sensor was one year. You should be ok, hopefully u kept the reciept too.

I'll let everyone know IF/WHEN mine ever fails again.
yes, I also used a dremel for the tight spots however my drill motor ripped through that brittle plastic like a hot knife through butter. I'm a believer in Tim the Tool man Taylor... MORE POWER!!!
