My project:
-Remove the '65 body off the original frame
-clean/repair body
-replace on a custome C2 Corvette frame with C4 suspension and change the engine to a 2006 Corvette LS2 with 400hp and a Tremec 5-speed transmission.

I'll post updates every Friday night around 10pm.

I expect this project to take about 2 months.

After I took these photos, I washed and vacuumed the car.
I'm diving in, removing the body first. The frame is pretty rusty, but I already have 2 of the 6 main bolts off.
Here are a couple more pics.

Big ones. The engine is about $6000, the tranny $4,200, the frame about $15,000 decked out with all C4 suspension, rack and pinion, the big Dana 44 rear and painted 1996 vette calipers. This tremed setup comes with new flywheel and driveshaft too. The harness and computer run about $2000.
I'm getting a brand new Rock Valley gas tank with the electric pump and baffle (for cornering) already installed. This will be about $1000.
I'm getting a new Griffin radiator and electric fan for about $1000.
Total misc parts about $1000.
So I expect to spend about $30,000 on this project total.
So far, everything is right on track.

Best of luck on this build. If you can stay on schedule and within budget, you should have you own TV show. The problem with these builds is the " I have gone this far, so why not just do a little more " syndrome. My red car started with a simple L-88 install and spiralled out of control to the tune of 12 years, 6000 man hours, $96000. in parts ( includes paint work , done by others ) and I did all the work myself, except the paint.
WE will be watching. Good luck again.

Welcome to this week's update. Well, the left rear body mount plate came off when I removed the bolt. Both rear caged nuts spun, so I had to get in the back of the car and remove the left side vent fan and pull up the carpet and got some vice grips on both rear nuts. The left rear still wouldn't budge. A saw-zaw did the trick. All the others came out OK. removed the steering linkage, radiator support bolts, tach drive, e-brake cable, all the bumper brackets, 4 seat-belt bolts, tranny cable, splash guards in front, oil press and water sending units, Z-bar, etc. I lifted the car using my car lift with 8 tie-down straps (each has a max of 400lbs).

The old chassis has sold and is being picked up this w/e.
In the coming week, I'll start detailing the engine bay and will get a bucket of soap water and rag and scrub the under-body.










I'm doing a DVD of this project as well. Will try to post some pics of the new parts as they arrive.

No major snags yet (knock-on-wood)!

Industrious project. 2 months with parts in hand is doable. waiting for vendors to ship you the ordered parts may impact your schedule some what. Best of luck and thanks for the pics.

I have been working on mine for over 8 months, and I work on mine every night! I am still a couple of months from having mine done, but I do everything in-house. Hell, I spent almost 2 mounths on all the body work and the paint. Of course, I had to replace almost every single body panel on the car. About the only thing that I got to re-use was the body tub, doors, and rear deck. The custom fabrication on these Resto-mods is substantial.

Local guy here did the same thing about a 2 years ago.. The car was absolutely awesome.... He just recently moved to Florida... He also had the new flared rear wheel wells on it.. It was sweet.. I look forward to seeing your progess..

and you haven't even got to the interior yet.....on top of your estimate...better add $10-15k more.....there will be other things you are going to want to do as you go....
