Lunati Cam???
I have a 1968 427, 390 HP Vette with M-21 tranny and 4:11 rear end. I am using an Elderbrock AVS 800 CFM carb. Compression is 9.73:1 and the heads are closed chamber 98.4 cc. Has anyone had experience with a Lunati 302A8LUN hydraulic or 402A2LUN solid lifter cam??? Looking at also buying th 65001LUN kit with springs, lifter, etc.... Any other options you would recommend?

I'm running the 402A3LUN,with 4.56, 3000 stall, turbo 400 and 10-1 comp 454. It idles at 10 inches of vacuum, 15 at 3000rpm. Performance easy 7.80@89 MPH in the 1/8 with a DA of 5000 plus. Yours should idle better and be comparable. I used Howards solid EDM lifters with it. Do a search or call their tech line. Ron B.

James, I didn't look up the specs on your cam but I assume it's a step milder than Ron's & mine. Just a few words of caution though- with the closed chamber heads I'm running I found that I had to relieve the pistons for the valves (exhaust if I remember right) in order to obtain enough valve to piston clearance. My pistons were milled at the time of my original rebuild to give me 9.5 to 1 comp. ratio but without digging through my old reciepts I can't tell you any more specifics about them except that they are forged aluminum.
With any increase in cam you should check for valve/piston clearance anyway, so this is more of a reminder anyway. Good luck.

Git it!
THANKS! One of the reasons I am concerned is that the relief on the L2300F pistins might not be enough. When I took the heads off, I had 10 BENT valves! With the 4:11 rear end I probably over reved the engine. (hydraulic lifters) I want to protect against this in the future by either going to soild or roller cam. I will be checking clearances with clay this week.
