Default What size injector do I need for a 383?

I'm having a 383 L98 built. It will use the superram intake.

What size injector do I need to purchase?

What brand? How much should I look to spend?

I asked the guys at pcm for less how many lb injectors they recommeded and they said 24lb should be fine.

Is that in agreement here?

Any particular brand? What's the problem with going with too large of an injector - example--- 30lb?

what about these injectors?

looks like ~$230 for a set of 8.

Do I need high impedance or low impedance with the L98?

I would look into the SVO 30# injectors.

Consult with the tuner before purchasing the injectors. You will likely get split opinions to the 24 vs the 30's. I am running 24's on a similar combo.

I have Ford 30 pounders in mine. Its a 383 stroker with 220 heads, Superam base and top. Mild custom ground cam, 1.5 rolling rockers, and full headers. I just installed a Dewitts radiator because car would overheat on hot days with the 383. Oh i forgot. I got a custom burned chip from Fastchip.

I have found the same thing. At what point does everyone agree that 30# injectors are the way to go?

No one agrees, unfortunately. Heated battles over it sometimes. In my case, motor never goes above 6k rpm. 24's work well for me. If I was turning 7k, I don't know they would. Regardless, I have run the ford 24's since 1993 with no troubles. Quality injector at a fine price.

Probably 30's but you should talk to whomever is tuning it first.

If your tuner said #24's go with them. I had #28's but my tuner said they would be maxed out and I should go with #30's. So that's what I went with, Ford #30's. The Lightning has #60's because the tuner for that said they would be better than the stock #40's. Both seem to run pretty well.

if the injectors are too large for the demand the pulse width will be too short and you will get poor fuel atomization I doubt the hp loss will be noticable but the diff in gas milage will be

is SVO a injector brand?

or is it a vendor shop?

link?

is there a injector in the middle? say a 26lb or 28lb that would be better? Why do most people jump from 24 to 30?

http://www.fbody.com/calc.htm

according to this link I'd need a minimum of 35lb injectors if I had hoped to make 450HP.

The 24lb injectors are only good to 307HP, and I better be making more than that

the 30lb injector is good for 384HP and I am hoping for more like 425ish HP or so.

Is this tool not applicable?

Go to the bottom of the link above to see the calculator.

My stock 24# injectors are pretty well maxed out at 375 rwhp.

You said it was a 383 with a superram, but what else has changed, ie cam, ported heads, etc. If Alvin told you the 24's are fine, and he is going to tune it, then that is what I would use. If it turns out it needs bigger injectors, changing them and readjusting the tune is not that big of a deal.

Don't believe everything you read. Ask your tuner!!!!! If the calculator you used was always correct do you think I could run high 10's and still run slightly rich at WOT? Real world experience has proven 24# SVO's are good for quite a bit more than the calculator may recommend.

This can be a very heated debatable subject. Use what your tuner prefers.
