Default At the gap there be dragons...

So the sign says.

The wife and I took a road trip to Knoxville, TN with several Club members this weekend for the Corvette Expo. While we were there a few of us decided to take a side trip to Deal's Gap and drive the Dragon's Tail (you know...318 curves in 11 miles), and see some of the Fall foliage on Friday. SPECTACULAR! Drove highway 129 south and then east to the Blue Ridge Parkway, through the Great Smokey Mtn National Park. Did about 1300 miles in four days. Great weekend. If you've never visited this part of the country, I highly recommend it.

MORE PICS...

Yeah, there was a lot of draggin' on the Dragon. The car in the pic with the front scraping, is my buddy Tom's. He lost a little front spoiler, but only dragged a couple of times. My car is considerably lower and I ground at least 1/2"-3/4" off my stock air dam. (I'm going to replace it soon, anyway, and already have a replacement.) There's nothing like powering hard through hairpin switchbacks. Many of the tight ones dip a little and swoop up, causing some dragging.

Dang it, I was in Gatlinburg this weekend with my wife too. I thought I saw a few vette club shirts etc. I just picked up mine from ECS in NJ and drove it to meet up with my wife and kids there.

Just got back from that trip about 2 weeks ago, started at the Corvette Assembly Plant and Museum, went from there to Knoxville and the Dragon, came partway home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Had a great time, and the scenery was awesome, especially with the top down!
