New Woodward spot needed for Fridays
Due to the great job the ROPD are doing keeping the peace, we are currently in need of a new spot to congregate for Fridays on Woodward. The ROPD stopped by Belle Tire and asked that they do not allow us use of their lot on Friday or any day for that matter. Apparantly a bunch of car lovers hanging out in a parking lot and talking is much worse than the ricing that goes on up and down Woodard. As far as I can tell, the city isn't making money off of us when their beloved 'NIGHTMARE' cruise isn't happening. I refuse to call it by the other name because it isn't a dream to drive for 2 hours to get 2 miles. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading my mini rant!

I agree with ya Paul and I'll rant right along with you. I wonder how they're going to keep up kicking everybody out of everywhere, as it get busier and busier the closer it gets to the NIGHTMARE.
It is what it is, and RO laws are what they are, but still makes NO sense to me, such typical . . . .

Paul / Dan or Dino,
Check out this thread. The guy who posts as Tony Soprano has a business on Woodward. If the business is closed, ROPD can kick people out or ticket them for loitering.

Also this year for the cruise, the city of Royal Oak is forcing all business owners that if any business on Woodward is charging for parking, having a party, or what ever, they must have an entertainment Permit, which if I'm not mistaken its about $1000-$1500.....
I'll find out more details and post as I find out.....
As for now use the lot at your own risk, If the police ask you to leave, go peacefully...Trust me, you don't want to beef with the ROPD.....They force me to shut my party down at 11pm every year! (threaten to arrest me)

Talked to my friend who owns the valvoline, he said that we can park there, he just wants to make sure that there will not be a trash problem and no burnouts in the parking lot, I assured him there would be no problem, So we can park at the valvoline the address is 3333 woodward ave, its in birmingham, we should not have a problem with the cops, i used to be the front door guy at blue martini so i know most of them, if this sounds good its a done deal

Theres always the Telegraph Cruise this week end and it`s hassle free. That Woodward deal has turned into and become a JOKE. I never liked Woodward anyway, Telegraph always had all the fast cars.

Simple-just park north of 14 mi rd-in B'ham, cops have a mellow attitude and there is diagonal parking in front of closed shops, etc between 14 mi rd and say, Adams rd. Everyone just agree on an area to park in.

Auto Zone is at NE corner of Woodward and 14 Mile Rd - I will be stopping there Friday night - Eric, the owner, should be OK with it - all is OK as long as he is there-he stayed 'till after 10 last Friday
