Ls7 clutch
What is the max hp/tq for an ls7 clutch and what parts are needed for the swap... I will be making about 440/460 na with a 150 shot...Wil the ls7 clutch hold up?

That was what I had figured but I hoped that I would be ok... any one know of any alternatives that arent sooo expensive that will hold about 600 rwhp?

are you running DR's?
if not the 06 Zo6 clutch should be fine.
I'm not running DR's but I have found the clutch to be great and hard to tell from a stock part when driving. BTW TQ is what kills clutches not HP (well that and how you use it)

I have 33 passes on an LS7 clutch and the news is not favorable.
Of the dozen or so C6Z owners that I been to the track with, not one has good things to say about the LS7 clutch.
It should be fine for guys who like to drive on the street. But it hates launches and will glaze at a launch rpm over 3500 and it won't tolerate any slip even at 2500. The pedal gets hung on launch at least 25% of the time.
In contrast, I had 500 launches on C5Z with a stock LS6 clutch and it glazed twice and the pedal stuck once.
So, I don't recommend the LS7 clutch...to anyone that ever intends to launch the car.

ooh
well that was kinda what I was expecting and with the hp and torque that I'll have that just wont hold up... I run bfg drags and love the track so I am going to be buying lots of expensive parts soon... to keep up with the go fast parts.

I use my car for everything - daily driving, auto cross, and drag racing (in that order) so I need a clutch that can wear many hats as they say
I don't plan on making but 400hp if that, and I want to stay away from SPEC because of the horror stories.

Will only be making around 400rwhp after the upgrades and plan to run the 1/4 mile only a couple times for curiousity and bragging rights.
Wanted to do the textrilla, but the installer feels for mostly street driving where slipping the clutch is a regular occurance racing clutches aren't the way to go.
Sound's like you rev up to over 3500 rpm then drop the hammer on launch. That's certainly aggessive driving... plus adding in 33 launches... that's some serious demands from a clutch - any clutch. Just courious, if your that serious a racer... why did you ever choose the LS7 clutch in the first place?
I've heard the pedal hang up thing is a master/slave issue... isn't it fixable?

The LS7 clutch is just the most finicky i've experienced, and it comes stock on the C6 Z06, so I didn't havve a choice.
The C5 Z06 clutches gave me 150-175 launches at rpm of 4000-5200. So the LS7 clutch is definitely weaker, proportionately.

That doesn't make for a good 60', but it will keep the clutch from glazing and the pedal from hanging.
