Pictures – Atomic Orange vs Daytona Sunset Orange
Remember when Johnny Carson would do his Carnac routine with Ed McMahon on The Tonight Show? Johnny would wear some outrageous hat, Ed would read the answer to a question and Johnny would have to predict what the question was. Johnny Carson was, I believe a Vette fan (owned a white 1996 coupe). Today’s version may be something like this:
McMahon: “The answer to the question, Oh great Carnac the omnipotent, is – three oranges, one Venetian and Ed Kookie Burns.”
Johnny (holding a sealed envelope to his head): “The question is what pictures did Dave at Kerbeck take today in a blatant attempt to get more attention on the Corvette Forum.
Dave took, an Atomic Orange Metallic next to a Daytona Sunset Orange, an “orange” 1957 Corvette (you can call it Venetian Red, but it’s orange) and a Hugger Orange 1969 Camaro and the lowest VIN Atomic Orange Kerbeck received.
All kidding aside, here are the pix of the Atomic next to the Sunset. I threw in the Venetian Red 57 Vette and our gourgeous 69 Camaro Z28 in Hugger Orange just as a contrast and for a blast from the past.
I also think it’s cool that the lowest serial number Atomic Orange we got was VIN 00077 – remember 77 Sunset Strip with Ed Kookie Burns? Nice way to tie in the Atomic to the Sunset!

Thanks for posting, Dave. I hope those who thought Atomic Orange looked the same as DSOM can now see the difference.
BTW, my Atomic Orange, with painted roof, comes off the line during the first hour of Monday's shift.

Thanks, Dave!
I know tastes change, but I wish GM had had the moxie to go more to the Z-28 color than sticking with the bronze/copper/brown side of the spectrum. Obviously, you have to see it on the car, and my own tastes are USUALLY decidedly muted (see avitar), however, I always had a soft spot for one particular orange, and I'm not a Ford or Mustang nut, but on this car, :
