First time Vette owner, 1999 C5 Coupe BLK with 32K miles.
I've searched all the threads about which oil filter to use....and only the oil type is discussed.
Do any of you guys want to chime in as to whether AC Delco, Mobil 1 or any other brands are the "recommended" brand?

Go with the AC Delco. Others will say Mobil 1, etc, but the AC Delco works just fine.... and its normally cheaper

I use the Mobil 1 filter as well as Mobil 1 5W30 oil.

I did some calling around and it's amazing the price differences.
Wal-mart - $52 for Mobil 1 oil & Mobil 1 filter
Chevy Dealer - $80 for Mobil 1 oil & AC Delco filter
Private shop - $65 for Mobil 1 oil & ??? filter

I'm not ashamed - WAL-MART HERE I COME!!

Check this out before you leave, if you haven't already... I paid $38 for 6 qts of 5w-30 and a Mobile 1 filter

Just spend about $55 for Royal Purple 5w 30 and a wix oil filter.. Haven't tried wix before soooo... ??

Actually - I read that thread yesterday (Thanks!), and went ahead and bought the oil (from Wal-mart since it was cheaper than AZ).
I was thinking that I could get a shop to do the labor for me, but turns out it will COST MORE to buy the oil/filter and have a shop do the labor (vs have a shop do it all) - so I'm just going to get it all done at a shop.
So - your probably wondering why I don't do the labor myself right?
Because I'm a girl - and I'd rather drive the CAR and pay someone to maintain it! :o

Was in AZ today looking for the special on the case of Mobil1 plus the free filter. They were out of the 5w-30. On my way out I looked at the Mobil1 filters. Now they have Mobil1 extended life filters. What is the difference between regular Mobil1 filters and extended life filters???

There's nothing wrong with having someone do it for you...but there's a great deal of personal satisfaction in learning to do it yourself. It does require some tools, waste disposal, etc.
I'm a DIYer type, but I'm in a rental home for another month w/o my jacks, stands, etc.
I went to the local GM dealer and contacted the manager in the quick service (basically the oil change department). I asked him if I brought in the oil/filter for my wife's '02 Trailblazer, what would he charge for labor.
It costs me $11.00 in labor only, which is worth it when I can buy oil/filter much cheaper than they would charge me. They dispose of the waste oil/filter and I stand there and make sure the grease monkey doesn't take the truck for a test drive or empty the spare change out of the ash tray. They even have late issues of magazines to read and hot coffee. You might try that...

I bought 7 quarts of 5w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic and (a very small filter, it looks too small BTW) Ac Delco for 44.xx at Autozone.

In my experience, I have used K&N Oil Filters in all my Vettes, Camaro's, Firebirds, and, '60's muscle cars for well over twenty years with success.

K&N not only filters very well, but they are also one of the most free-flowing filters out there. The icing on the cake is the very convenient nut that is welded to the end - makes removal a snap.
