Can anyone tell me the PROPER way to remove the plastic panel in the rear that covers the rear speakers? I know you remove the hatch strut and the three plastic push-pins, then you have to pop the snap in retainers out BUT the rear retainer is a slide-in that in 4 cars now I have not been able to remove a single one without the clip breaking free from the panel.... it's just glued and I glued two back with no problem and the other two I used velcro tabs so I could remove it again in the future easily. There's NOTHING in the GM service manual on how to do it.... any help from knowledgable people would be great

If anyone has a C6 GM Service manual handy, if you could check page P-10 for fastener precautions that might help..... the manual has a line on the page for removing the trim panel that says to refer to that page. I don't have the manual, just the page so I can't check P-10 to see if it says anything about it in particular.

Thanks, yes, that's what I've heard from someone else just now too... that one clip is a real PITA!

Did the same thing as you. Thank goodness they glue back in OK.

Have you tried removing the stud the bottom of the hatch strut snaps into before trying to slide the panel out? It made putting the cover back in a lot easier, so it might work for taking it out also.

Hey Don, that's a great idea! I bet that would work or at least help. I'll give it a shot!
